Why Your Emotional Health is so Important

How Your Emotional Health Can Affect Your Work and Your Family

Your emotional health and well being is so important to your everyday living. How you feel on the inside can affect what you are doing on the outside. Sometimes, it can be so hard to try and get beyond your thoughts and feelings so that you can focus on what is happening at work, let alone focus on your family and other activities.

When people are doing well emotionally, they are extremely aware of their thoughts, and how they are functioning. According to familydoctor.org, "They have learned healthy ways to cope with the stress and problems that are a normal part of life." This could mean an upcoming deadline at work, and it's something that doesn't change your life completely, but it makes you aware of the amount of work you have to do, so that you can plan how you are going to use your time everyday to get the project done. When planning for the time to work on this project, everyone in your family and you will be aware that you need time away from them to work, so they don't view it as an emotional upheaval, and they know you aren't distancing yourself.

I personally have learned as a copywriter, that although I have struggled with anxiety in the past, I can tell the difference between the stress in trying to meet a deadline on a project for a client, and having an anxiety attack. Does this make sense? Keeping my emotional health in check is important so that it doesn't interfere with my work, otherwise it might show up in my writing. This could look like misspelled words and sentences that seem rushed.

Emotional health can affect your family too. If you do seem distant, or if your family wants to go on an outing and you don't want to go, they may feel as though you don't want to spend time with them. The other challenge is that while you could have anxiety or depression, young children may not understand this. They do know more than we think they know, but when they want to play and they are smiling at you waiting for you to take part in their activities, they don't understand why mommy and daddy aren't ready to play. The child in turn could feel hurt or sad, and it's something that you would have a really hard time explaining to them.

Emotional health is so important to you and your family, not to mention your fellow co-workers. Emotional health affects your thoughts and feelings and can really help you excel when you are feeling energetic and positive.

Some good options are visiting your doctor to find out what medicines might be right for you, and any nutritional changes you can make. In addition, set out to find a counselor in your area and talk it out. This can be very helpful, and if anything just to get things off your chest.
