Why Everyone Should Be Shopping at Walgreens

Sulli
I started becoming an avid Walgreen's shopper in my college days. The first time I picked up their weekly ad, I noticed there many items advertised as free after mail in rebate. Once roped into shopping there every week to get my free items, I couldn't stop. I just wanted to share with you how great shopping at this drug store can be.

Each month at Walgreen's, they publish a rebate catalog called the Easysaver. It is filled with pages and pages of coupons and rebates forms. If you bought every item that there is a rebate or coupon for in the catalog, you would easily save over $600 a month. Almost every month, there are items that are completely free after mail in rebate. These could range from medicine, tooth brushes, new hair care products, make-up, or even food items. Other items are just cheaper after the rebate. Each weekly ad also corresponds to the Easysaver catalog. Some weeks, an item may be on sale making it free after mail in rebate if you buy it that week only. For example, if an item's regular price is $7.99 and it's on sale for $5.99 and the rebate is for $5.99, then the item would end up being free for you. But if you bought it on one of the other weeks of the month where it wasn't on sale, then you would end up paying $2.00 in the end for that item. Just as the weekly ads correspond with the Easysaver catalog, the weekly coupon inserts in your Sunday's paper, also correspond with the weekly ads. Combined, the coupons and weekly specials can also get you closer to the price for an item to be free or close to it after mail in rebate.

In addition, you can also use the store coupons that are printed in their weekly ad along with your manufactures coupons from the paper at the same time. Therefore, you are using two coupons on one item. Also, when you are filing out the rebate form, the price you put down as the price you paid is what the item rang up as at the register, not what the final price was if you used coupons. Therefore, you can also earn more back in rebates than you actually paid. That's not even the best part. Once the end of the month comes along and you submit all of your receipts along with the rebate form, you can earn even more money back. If you have Walgreen's fulfill your rebate on a Walgreen's gift card, rather than having them send you a check, then you get an extra 10% bonus added to it. You can use the same gift card month after month because you write in the gift card number right on the rebate form. If you do not have a Walgreen's gift card, they will send you one with your first rebate submission.

It takes up to 10 weeks for you to receive your rebate check or for you card to be refilled. You can always check the status of your rebate online on Walgreen's website. This program is a great way to try out new products without the worry of wasting money on something you may not like. If you do this month after month, you could end up with enough money from the previous month's rebate, to purchase the current month's rebate items.

Nice tip. Someone should write an AC article on rebate tracking software or websites.

Thanks for the info. We have a Walgreens right at the end of our street and honestly I think I've only been in there once or twice. I will have to check out that easysaver catalog. We could certainly use another way to save money!

I'm from the Midwest, and miss Walgreens - which aren't as big on the West Coast it seems!

We are getting one in our area (30 miles away, LOL) soon, I heard. Well, soon in terms of how southerners keep time. He he he

I like free after rebate, but we don't have a Walgreen's.
