Why You Should Be Excited for Fable III

Fable was released in 2004 for the Xbox after years of development and anticipation. Although it got great review scores, the promising title got huge backlash. It still sold well enough to warrant a sequel. Fable II was released on the Xbox 360 in 2008. The sequel managed to scored and sell better than the first title. Fable III won't take nearly as long as Fable and Fable II to developed. The third game in the series is slated for a 2010 release. Here are a few reasons why you should be excited for Fable III on the Xbox 360.

Connections to Fable II
Fable II sold three million copies on the Xbox 360. Microsoft is also keeping the sales flow going by announcing that they will re-release Fable II as an episodic game. Because of the popularity of the prequel, developer Lionhead Studios is planning to give the loyal fans plenty of extras in the sequel.

Fable III will be able to read your save file in Fable II and transfer several data over. The most important of which will be the hero. In Fable II, you can start your own family. In Fable III, you play as one of your direct descendants fifty years later. The upcoming Xbox 360 game will also features several familiar faces and places from the Fable series.

New Gameplay
Although two years may be a relatively short turn around time for sequels, Fable III will no doubt be an ambitious project. The biggest change from Fable II has to do with your status. In Fable III, you spend half of the game earning your way to the throne. You have to gather support to help overthrow the current leader of the kingdom.

After that, the game turns into a simulator of sorts where you can run your kingdom by impeding taxes and other actions. As the supreme leader of the land, you also have the ability to summon people to your presence and pass judgment on them. Another new element is the new touch system, which will provide a new way to interact with the characters in Fable III.

Continued Improvements
Both Fable and Fable II have their share of problems, most of which came from developer Lionhead Studios over-promising and under-delivering on several exciting features. The development team behind Fable III is taking all of the complaints to heart and will try their hardest to live up to the ambitious promises set fourth with their plan for Fable III.

Fans of the series will have to wait until late 2010 to see if Fable III can be as great as it sounds so far.
