Why is Exercise Important?

There is an epidemic in America and that is lack of exercise. Over the last several decades citizens of the United States have become fatter and more obese for a variety of reasons including not exercising. Many people question, "Why is exercise important?", and then simply ignore the necessity of good activity and nutritional balance. While America is getting bulging waist lines, many simply don't care and would much prefer to continue their calorie indulged lifestyles.

This is a problem for several reasons. First off, many are simply uneducated on the subject. People don't know what being put into their bodies little lone being is given accurate information. Even those who take the time to try and eat healthier have to wade through the myriad of data and info on packaging and textbooks. Corporate advertising is not helping matters with their barrage of ads, many of which tell half truths in order to convince consumers to purchase their product.

All of this leads back to "why is exercise important?" To be honest there are several reasons why daily activity is very useful. First off is strength. By strength I don't mean being able to lift so much in the weight room. Instead I refer to organs and muscles associated to the cardiovascular system. Running helps the heart pump more handily, lessening your chances for heart disease and blood related problems. In addition, your lung's ability to pull oxygen out of the air is improved as is your endurance. This will make you less winded when heading up a flight of stairs and other minor activities.

It also helps take care of inconsistencies in the diet. Because most people take in more calories then they need, they tend to gain weight in the form of fat. With exercise this can be avoided because it will help narrow the gap of excess calories if not eclipse it, which would allow for weight loss. Overall, exercise is a very important component to steady health and should not be skipped from the daily ritual of life.
