Why You Should Exfoliate Today

And How You Can Do it for Cheap

Kris Gaines
So, everyone's heard that there's all kinds of dead skin cells hanging out all over our bodies, and a lot of people have even heard how important it is to occasionally scrub the nasty little flakes off. However, exfoliating isn't just for keeping your skin dead cell free, the health and beauty benefits are wide and wonderful, and you can make a top of the line spa-type product at home with things you most likely already have.

Banish those Bumps!

Who doesn't hate those terrible after-shave in grown hairs and bumps that seem to magically crop up no matter what you do? Dermatologists say that a great amount of these little jerks are caused by a lack of exfoliation. When the new hairs try to break through the skin layer, the old, dead cells are in the way, and block them. The best way to keep your self smooth post-shave is to exfoliate directly after doing so and frequently. Take care not to use extreme pressure, as the skin is extra sensitive, and of course this will help you prevent any abrasions from the exfoliant you're using.

Look and feel younger just by washing your face

Yep, that's right, using a sugar scrub or exfoliant of any kind is a huge benefit for your ticker. The exfoliation process does a few things for your heart actually. First, and probably most importantly, when your skin is exfoliated and healthy, your body has a much better chance of expelling toxins that would other wise build up in your system. Secondly, exfoliating is a major benefit for your heart and cardiovascular system because it helps increase your circulation. As many people know, the cardiovascular system effects the entire body, including the skeletal system which helps keep you feeling younger, longer. Last but never least, most people have to exfoliate themselves, and this exercise, though minimal, is great for your arm muscles, and upper body as well as your heart. Besides all the heart benefits, the skin in general is far less likely to wrinkle or blemish when it's exfoliated on a regular basis, which means younger, healthier looking skin. Just remember, your dead skin is dead and covering your new skin, and scrubbing it all of leaves nothing but new skin, and new skin is younger looking skin.

Scrub away Acne with Sugar.

Ironically, the thing most of us are told can cause blackheads and pimples in the first place is one of nature's most amazing solutions. If you look around today in your local shopping mall, supermarket, or favorite on-line store I promise you will find an exfoliating sugar scrub. Exfoliant scrubs with granules like sugar, or micro-beads help destroy and prevent acne by stopping it at it's roots. Most acne is caused by a build up of dead skin cells, we replace them about once a month, every month. These dead skin cells get in the way of our brand new skin cells and cause blemishes and blackheads galore. Unfortunately our bodies are loaded with tons of these little guys and they're all dying and being re-created at different times, this means that scrubbing all the old cells off once a month isn't really enough. If you suffer from acne, exfoliation is the key. If you don't believe me, take a look at the leading acne treatment systems on the market today, every single one has an exfoliating cleanser. You don't need to spend money on those expensive creams and lotions, though, all you need is your favorite facial soap, and a little sugar.

Homemade Scrub Recipe

Your favorite liquid soap
Sugar (basic table sugar)

Add about 2-3 Tablespoons of your favorite liquid soap to about a cup of your sugar in a jar of some kind(you'll want a sealable container to keep the mix from drying out). Mix it all up with a spoon until you have gotten a nice paste, add more sugar or soap if needed. Make sure the consistency isn't too liquidy, if you turn the container upside down it should stay put for at least a few seconds.

For sensitive skin: use brown sugar, and exfoliate only 2-3 times a week

For Rough Areas like elbows: Use raw cane sugar

For oily trouble skin: Exfoliate every day to help cut back on blemishes and blackheads
