This newest Facebook meme-for-a-cause has users replacing their profile pictures with photos of their favorite cartoon characters, most from cartoons in the 70s, 80s, or 90s, to boost awareness of violence against children.

The meme reads:

"Change your facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same. Until Monday (December 6), there should be no human faces on facebook, but a stash of memories. This is for eliminating violence against children."

No one is really sure where the meme came from as there are no events or anniversaries related to violence against children in that time frame, except that the UN has been observing a campaign to raise awareness of violence against women and children. However, the meme has caught fire as Facebook users search for cartoon characters from the 70s, 80s, and 90s to replace their profile pic.
