Why Florida Will Win the BCS Championship

A Star Player, a Swarming Defense and a Genius Head Coach

Jim Kelly
Florida, winners of two of the past three BCS National Championships, have aligned themselves to win a third in four years. They play in the SEC, one of the toughest, if not the toughest, divisions in college football, and remain undefeated. Yes, they still have a big showdown for the SEC Championship with undefeated #2 Alabama who posses almost all the same qualities that Florida does, but Florida has just that little something extra that pushes them over the top. Here are the three reasons why the Florida Gators will win the 2010 BCS National Championship.

1. Tim Tebow. The former Heisman winner is the front runner to win this year again which would make him the second player ever to win the award twice. He seems to just have an instinct for the game and knows when to take off and run and knows how to run the option to perfection. The one knock against Tebow is that he's not a prolific passer like Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford, but in reality, he doesn't really need to pass all that often. he is surrounded by tremendous talent and speed and Florida has shown they can wins games just by running. One thing is for certain though that no one can question, Tebow is a winner and he will refuse to let his team lose concentration and focus on their way to the title.

2. Urban Meyer. This guy just looks like an absolute stud doesn't he? He won the National Championship in 2007 with basically no players that he recruited and he won in 2009 with the players that he recruited over a stacked Oklahoma team. He has the right guys for his offense and never seems to make the wrong decision when it comes to a crucial point in the game. He trusts his play makers and he lets his stars take the game over. He doesn't over manage but he doesn't under manage. He keeps the game in hand and never loses his cool.

3. Defense. Florida returned all of their starters on defense from the championship team a year ago. They always play a dominating game and the games that end up being close they always step up when the time calls for it. Even in the close games their opponent never seems to score more than two touchdowns. They are experienced and they are tenacious, and this is the key to putting them over the top.
