You never know what you are getting anytime you buy something preowned. Always hire an inspector before you sign any kind of sale contract to uncover any hidden problems that you may be facing. You do not want to be stuck with a home that needs more improvement than it is worth.
It is not wise to make any decisions when you are in a rush. Sometimes you make choices that you would have not normally made under other circumstances. Be sure to discuss the possible owning of a foreclosure with your family and friends and take their opinions to heart. Your friends and family can be your best and most trusted resource because they are motivated by wanting to see that you make a good choice and that you are happy.
Generally when a couple of family has to foreclose on their home it is because they cannot afford the mortgage and could be going through financial problems. This could also mean that they could have possibly neglected other aspects of their home due to lack of funds. Some people, knowing that they will have to foreclose, let their homes become degraded on purpose. Some even go so far as to remove all fixtures and anything else that can be re-used before they are made to move out.
Make sure that attention is paid to all electrical connections, make sure there are no electrical hazards inside your potentially new home that could start a fire. You will also want to have the condition of the pipes that run through the home checked as well as the condition of the roof. It can cost a new home owner tens f thousands of dollars to put a new roof on a home.
Buying a home is one of the most important things you will ever do in your life and you should feel good about your decision. Purchasing a home that ends up having more problems than you expected will lead to resentment, stress and possible financial difficulty of your own. Always have a licensed home inspector closely examine any foreclosed home that you may be interested in purchasing. This is the only fail-safe way to make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into.
