Why Freelance Writer's Jobs Are Hard on Pots and Pans

Why Freelance Writer's Jobs Are Hard on Pots and Pans

Freelance writer jobs include writing about everything that goes on in their lives on a daily basis. My family often stops in the middle of whatever crises we are dealing with and turn, look at me and say in unison, "You're going to write about this aren't you?"

I explore creative expression by writing short, funny stories. You never know where humorous stories take you which is just like life. We never know what each day brings. Since my current freelance writer job includes writing for Associated Content, my life has gotten very........creative? You be the judge.

What I love about writing is getting lost in it. The hours fly by. They fly by so much, I've missed appointments, forgotten to pick up the mail and most of all, burned a lot of food while it's cooking. I can't tell you how many times someone comes in the house, sniffs the air and says, "Did you burn something?"

And of course, it's my mother that I don't want to know I've done it again. She seems to think she wouldn't let anything like this happen. I've tried all kinds of tricks to fool myself into remembering food cooking on the stove.

I put my timer in the kitchen and when that didn't work, I put it by my computer. Since that isn't working either, maybe I"ll hang it with fish line from the hall ceiling between the kitchen and my office. I'll put it at my forehead level and bumping into it will get me to set it.

All I have to do is set the lousy timer. For some reason, I always think I'll do so AFTER I check my email to see if I have an offer, or write that last line I just thought of or research the idea for my next article.

This never works. And for some reason, I can't make myself set it before getting to the computer. I am obsessed. I'm so obsessed that even chewing on crunchy food, scrubbing burned pots and running the vent still haven't deterred me.

So, as a freelance writer, what do I do but turn this eccentricity into humorous stories? Using my creative expression, the thoughts of writing a cook book on making meals from burned food comes to mind. It can't be any worse than road kill cafe cookbooks. And besides, it might help a lot of folks out.

I wonder what Google Adwords is for burned food? What do you know. Eating burned food has 91 hits on a global monthly basis. What's wrong with people? They can't all have freelance writer jobs!

I hear you! I can multi-task pretty well, except if having something on the stove is one of the tasks!

Jockeys eat at my house when they want to loose weight because I have a bad reputation for getting distracted while cooking. Let me know how the cookbook goes.

The worst was when I was making hard boiled eggs....the explosion, smell and mess will never leave my mind! Just glad I'm not alone, also added you to my favorites, can't wait to read more, thanks!

Thanks. I'm like Janet Hunt--I didn't understand from the title...this is intriguing!

I never cook when I'm writing. Gotta keep your eye on the stove or it may be worse than burnt food--you may burn the house down! Good job here!

I couldn't imagine what kind of story this would be with a title like that! Nice description of life as a freelancer! :-)

    Ha Ha HA!

Set the timer! I don't want your home becoming a fire statistic. Oh, by the way...I've been guilty of thinking I'll set the timer after...too. I set it first now. :-)
