Why Friday Nights and Winter Weddings Are Now the Trend

Michele Arrowsmith- Rowe
Still want the summer wedding without the hefty price tag? Or, how about having a winter wonderland wedding? With the state of our economy, couples are trying to find many ways to save money without scarifying on their "special day." One way to save on the cost of your wedding is to pick a day that most couples won't pick. It's all about supply and demand!

Weekends, especially Saturdays, are very popular days to get married. If you want to get married in the middle of the summer and still not bust the bank, pick a week night! What's wrong with a Friday night? Most banquet facilities and vendors want to book their calendars, so they might negotiate cutting your costs. Also, week nights are easier to come by than a Saturday! As an added bonus, most vendors will be more available for your event! Don't you want your vendors available to assist you on your "special day?"

Don't mind not having your wedding in the middle of June? Then pick a day that is not during the "wedding season!" At www.theknot.com, the blog "Ask Carley"states that the "season" starts usually in June and ends in October. Of course, this depends on where you live! It might be too hot in June for a wedding! And wouldn't that be miserable? This is another good reason why you might consider choosing an alternate season!

There are many advantages of having a wedding during the "off season." First, when it is slow, most of your vendors and venues will give you discounts because they want your business. Also, you won't have any problems booking your date. Want your day to get the "preferential treatment?" Book your event during the "off season!" Most vendors aren't busy with other weddings and your wedding would get that "special" treatment that it deserves! Also, this will lower the odds of your guests having other prior wedding events that could conflict with yours. Won't it be nice to have most of your guests there to share "your day?" Finally, book your event during the winter holidays. Most of the venues are beautifully decorated and that will help you save money on décor!

Want your cake and eat it too? Plan your wedding on a day and season that no one will be interested in! Trust me - - -there are numerous advantages that will make your day "extra special" without burdening you with all those extra costs!

My husband and I were married in the month of August. Looking back, I wish we had chosen January or February instead. It's expensive to go away for an anniversary break in August!
