Why Fur Coats Are (Not) So Glamorous: Satire

Rebecca Said
Why fur coats are (not) so glamorous:

Many fur coats are actually made from dog fur. China supplies half of the fur coats to the United States. Humane Society did an investigation on the fur trade in China, and 9 out of 10 coats tested were actually dog fur. Fur industry in China is not very well regulated and they will put label indicating it is other type of fur, when in actuality it is dog or cat fur. Animals used for fur in China are treated in barbaric ways and have even been skinned alive. They kill stray and stolen dogs and cats for fur including german shepherds, chows and mixed breeds. It takes 10-12 adult dogs to make one coat or 24 cats.

It takes about 200 chinchillas to make one fur coat. These are beautiful sensitive animals that lead a painfully short life in the fur industry. They are electrocuted, strangled, poisoned or have their necks broken. It is incredible to think of how much pain and suffering goes into making just one coat. Chinchilla fur trade source

More than 10 million animals are trapped in steel leg hold traps every year. They suffer horribly and try desperately to escape. Many animals chew their own leg off, starve to death and bleed to death. Steel leg hold traps source

Some of the biggest names in fashion have been selling dog fur! These include Burlington coat factory, J.C. Penney, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Sak's Fifth Avenue, Dereon, D.E.M.O., Rocawear, Ross, Lord & Taylor, Barney's, Tommy Hilfiger, Nordstrom, Bluefly, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Foot locker, Loehmann's and Dillard's. Some has been mislabeled and other dog fur has been sold as faux fur.

Animals that are killed by the fur industry include dogs, cats, mink, fox, rabbit, coyote, beaver, raccoon, opossum, skunk, seal, gray wolf, black bear, sea otter, seals and many more. Animals killed in fur industry source

In the fur industry, larger animals such as foxes are killed by electrocution. They force a rod into their mouth and anus. Even though this is a painful and gruesome way to die, the focus is not on animal suffering but to avoid damaging the fur for maximum profit.
How animals are killed in fur industry

More than 4 million Karakul lambs are slaughtered each year for fur coats. Theses are made out of fetal lambs. About 15 days before the mother sheep is due to give birth, they slash her throat and stomach to remove all of her fetal baby lambs. The Karakul fetus coats sell for about $12,000-$25,000. Heartless designers promoting this fur include Ralph Lauren, Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and Jean-Paul Gaultier. They are selling these fetus coats at Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's. Karakul lamb fetal fur coats source

This article is total bullshit. No one wears fur from dogs or cats.

The culture we have developed while turning our backs on fur actually has far greater impact on the environment. If people get cold by wearing fur they kill twenty animals . This is sustainable. By turning the heating up you actually hav a far greater impact, specially on the arctic. Remember too that the fossil fuel it comes from is not infinitly renewable, and alternative fuels are also habitat damaging; whether bio fuels or wind farms. Ask the dead birds.
The campaign against fur must stop. It profits by tapping into immature and urban alieanated fears and ignorance about animals while simultaneusly masking the real damage those urban societies are doing to animal habitats by selling "alternatives".

Fur is an infinitely renewable resource. The alternatives are not and the shameful way in which our society has acted in selling the idea of synthetics being animal friendly is a disgrace. Think of that next time you are synthetic clothing and trainers in an over heated mall

On the contrary, they are among the best looked after animals in the world: if a furbearer is distressed, it loses fur. There is no mileage in treating them badly.Visitors here would do well to read this:
    http://ec.europa.eu/food/fs/sc/scah/out74_en.pdf
    read from page 6.
Then you may want to reflect on what powers actually doctored a favourable report on fur farming welfare by some of the world top animal welfare scientists. You will also note for example that farmed mink ar the only domesticated animals correctly weaned.
Now when wondering where all those videos come from showing animals being skinnd alive come from then, have a look here:

ys shocking huh? Animal Rights is a muli million dollar industry and some parties are supplying snuff movies to them as "evidence".

You may aslo want to answer the questions posed here:

The sad thing is that humans have worn fur for two million years without significantly damaging wildlife populations through it. The truth is modern western society that condemns fur has done more to destroy natural habitat in the last twenty years than ever before. It is exploitation of non renewable resources that can wipe animals out for good. Synthetic clothing is all made from oil, is disposable, damages habitat, fills landfills because it isn't rcyclable, and has appalling effects on natural habitat.

Much of the information here is propaganda not evidence.
Quite simply it is absurd to say most fur coats are made of cats and dogs. One major problem is that the Animal Rights lobby are desprate to classify tanuki as a dog. It is not.
There is no shortage of mink and fox on the planet and that is because man values them for fur and hunting. Both practices can be a force for good in conservation.

I have actually visited fur farms and seen that there is not the cruelty claimed

The very sad part about this whole article is that somebody would read it, and then hug their fur coat closer to them. I'm blown away by how much people don't care. I have a sister-in-law who absolutely refuses to eat Chinese food because she thinks they're feeding people dog, but she wears her fur coat proudly. What a hypocrite! I'm disgusted by the site of fur.
