The Giants will win this game 34-31 by a field goal from Tynes no less, the same person who missed 2 field goal kicks against the Packers but redeemed himself in overtime. The Giants team is about the All-Joes vs. The All Pros. The Patriots are a team of stars with huge egos. The Giants are a true team and it is time that the NFL recognizes Tom Coughlin for being one of the best football coaches in football. Eli Manning is destined for greatness and he may never be as good as Tom Brady or his brother. But then again, he doesn't have to be.
This game will be a shootout that is for sure. The Giant's defensive line will get some pressure on Tom Brady and he will throw an interception, maybe two but I doubt it. However, Eli Manning has done a remarkable job on not throwing interceptions and turning the ball over in the playoffs which is why the Giants have had so much success. This Giants team is due for a win. They have been counted out against all season long and this Giants team has all the momentum. Almost every player on the Giants has never won a Super Bowl. Almost every player on the Patriots have won a Super Bowl. Sure, the Patriots want to win to get a Super Bowl ring and to become the first team ever to go 19 and 0 in a single season. But there's no substitute for winning your first Super Bowl ring. You can ask any football player that. The Giants have all the momentum in this game and their confidence is at an utmost high.
In Week 17, the Giants were beating the Patriots when the Patriots had everything to play for with history on the line. The Giants had nothing to play for, other than to prove that they could do some damage in the playoffs. Despite all this, the Giants nearly won the game. And they should have won the game too if the Giants defense didn't do so poorly against the Patriots offense. Now the Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnulo has gotten better with every game and is being considered for head coaching positions in the NFL. He will certainly get his opportunity if the Giants pull off the greatest upset of all time and beat the Patriots. I believe this time around, the Giants defense will play better. Defensive captains Straham and Pierce are the heart and soul of this Giants defense and they have too much pride to let Tom Brady kick them around twice. The Giants have been counted against far too many times and each time they have proved the pundits wrong.
Now ponder this thought: The Giants nearly beat the Patriots at home. Now ponder this scary thought: the Giants play better when they are on the road than at home. The Super Bowl will be played in Arizona which will be a road game for both teams. There is something about the road warrior mentality that makes the Giants play better. This will be evident in the Super Bowl.
Let the Giants detractors say what they want. The Giants will prove them wrong once again. Let the game begin.
