When considering a casino run in Detroit, visitors and locals have a handful of choices. They can try out Greektown, Motor City, MGM Grand or ride across the bridge to go to Caesar's Windsor. There are many reasons why Greektown has a leg up on the competition in town.

You can get to just about anything in Downtown Detroit with a simple ten minute walk from Greektown, or even less time can be used by taking the People Mover.

Eating

I mentioned earlier that you can eat at any of the restaurants that are around Greektown Casino. I should point out that the area around Greektown Casino gives you more options to eat than all of the other casino areas combined. In the general area are fast food joints and sit down restaurants. You have choices for five dollar meals or hundred dollar meals.

Safety

The area around Greektown Casino has gained a good reputation over the years as being one of the safest places in all of Detroit. Being that the area is well-lit and constantly moving, there is less opportunities for issues. The owners in the area make sure that riled drunks and anyone else trying to cause trouble are dealt with on a quick basis. Security is tight at Greektown Casino, and in the immediate area.

I frequent the casinos in and around Detroit on a regular basis, but I have come to consider Greektown Casino as my home casino in the area. There are many advantages to Greektown Casino that will keep me coming back for many years to come. As you can see, there are many advantages to playing there over anywhere else in the area.
