Why Guys Become Players: Insight from a Guy's Perspective

Michael Martin
Why guys become players can become some interesting conversation when a bunch of single women get together and start cackling like chickens in a henhouse convention. You see ladies, try as you might, you really can't change the player. The player only changes within. What you can do is understand why the player thinks the way he does, and if you're smart enough, root him out at the same time.

Physical Intimacy

A guy's sexual peak occurs during his early to middle twenties, give or take. This age group runs smack dab in the middle of a typical bar scene crowd. Next time you meet a guy at the bar scene, can he really be thinking flowers and dinner? It's a good bet that on average, he's thinking physical intimacy in those post-college years. It's ok to dream about ordering that glass of pinot, just not with a newbie fresh out of college.

Can't Be Nice

Guys learn that being nice gets them nowhere in terms of landing the girl they want. The player seems to learn early on that "women aren't attracted to men who give away their power, kiss up to them, smother them with attention, act like whipped puppies, and get nervous just being in the same room with them," says the Seduction Chronicles. You may actually meet a nice guy, but he's trying to beat the system so he can avoid being run over, by you.

Bad Timing

No offense girl, maybe you just aren't what he's looking for during this time in his life. The player wants to date as much as possible before settling down. When he's finally married and his little ones are running around the living room screaming God only knows what, he wants to reflect back and feel comfortable he married when he was ready. If he hasn't dated as much as he'd like, consider it bad timing.

The Chick Magnet

It's that first time when more than one woman has interest in a guy at the same time. The smart player learns from this experience, as he figures out women seem drawn to guys who attract a lot of women. It's a mystery women must uncover, and quite frankly, they are powerless to help themselves. Call it for what it is; once the player understands this phenomenon, the player just keeps playing.

Burned Before

It's the one bad breakup in a guy's life that suddenly changes his approach to dating. It usually happens when he falls for a certain girl for the first time. There's nothing like getting burned and think this headache is no longer needed. Hence, the player is born.
