Convenience
The number one excuse people use to avoid working out is that they do not have the time. When you work out at a gym instead of at home, you will find yourself with even less time because you have to drive to and from the gym. If you workout in your home gym, you will only have to take a few steps to get to your workout.
Cleanliness
Let's face it, people are disgusting and it only gets worse when you workout. So why would you want to use gym equipment that has been used by hundreds of people and has rarely been cleaned? That is a germ infestation waiting to happen. By working out at home, the only sweat you have to deal with is your own and you control how often it gets cleaned. Doesn't that sound like a much better option?
Privacy
When you are just starting workout or if you just do not like the idea of people watching you sweat, then signing up at a gym is not a very good idea. Gyms are full of exercise junkies who like to people watch. Why would you want to subject yourself to that? If you workout at home instead, you will be able to make mistakes and wear whatever you want without the risk of being judged.
Cost
Gym memberships can cost over $100 a month, plus an upfront fee when you first join. If you were to just take that $100 payment and the $200+ sign up fee and invest it in some used equipment, you would have been able to create a good home gym and you would never pay another cent. Over the course of a year, you would have saved over $1000. Not to mention the amount of money you will save on gas from the constant commute. So why would you want to join a gym when you can work out in the comfort of your own home? Save money and enjoy the privacy, convenience and cleanliness of your own home gym. You never know, these positive aspects may be all you need to get into better shape.
