Why Your Hair Isn't Growing

You may see miracle products and home remedies that claim to make your hair grow faster, but hair grows on average half an inch per month. Nothing can make it grow any faster, but there are a few things that can stop it from growing, the key is to establish what the problem is:

Low Iron:

when the bodys supply of Iron is low, it clings onto every last bit of iron it can get and keeps it for the bloodstream. It is not redirected to anywhere in the body that is not absolutely vital. This includes the hair and nails; these stop growing and begin to look dull and unhealthy. Make sure you keep your iron levels up with plenty of dark green vegetables, red meat or eggs.

Studies have shown that natural sources of Iron are absorbed more quickly and thoroughly into the body than in pill form.

Stress:

A great deal of things happen to our bodies when we are stressed, we sleep less, we don't eat as well as we should, we are agitated and full of adrenaline. Sleeping is absolutely essential to hair growth, our bodies repair and recharge themselves overnight and if we are not sleeping enough then they do not get the chance.

Diet:

If our bodies do not get enough of the vitamins and nutrients that it needs, it simply cannot function properly. The nutrients that it does get are directed to the vital organs and nothing is left to stimulate hair growth.

Circulation:

It is fairly simple, if blood flow to the scalp is restricted, the hair will not grow properly. Stimulate blood flow to the scalp by gently massaging your scalp with the pads of your fingers, this will give you the added bonus of calming and relaxing you.

Vitamins such as vitamin E and omega 3 and cod liver oil boost the circulation and will help give you healthy looking shiny hair.

Please note that if your hair does not grow at all for some time or you are losing hair, then you should seek medical advice.
