Why the Harry Potter Series is Easily the Most Fascinating Genre in Mainstream This Year

The Harry Potter craze is never ending this year for reasons many cannot understand. Nonetheless, there are millions of fans going out of their way to order books and other materials in support of J.K Rowling. My own family find it difficult to understand my fondness for watching Harry Potter movies or even reading the novels. "Its witch craft," my mom always says. She can't even get through the first thirty minutes of any Harry Potter movie. I always remind her that though witch craft is indeed practiced, this movie represents meanings all together different from your average crazies. I mean, no one says anything about Superman, Spiderman, or any of your other heroes that do "magic-type" deeds. I always remind her that its all about the imagination. My intrigue with the Harry Potter concept stems from being an avid reader of all genres of the written work as well as an aspiring best-selling author and film editor. I am enthralled by how extensive the imagination can work, especially when it is interpreted through film. The Harry Potter concept is about more than the magic. It is about long lasting friendships that weather through good times and bad times. It's about things in life not always being what they seem. It's about learning life's lessons the hard way. Sometimes people miss the bigger picture and take things at face value. For that reason, they overlook the depth of a person - the history, the present, and the future.

The 5th installment of this film is definitely darker and more gothic, but it tells a story of how in life, you can sometimes come face to face with your fears. You then have to ask yourself: Should I run or confront them head on? Harry does this in Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix. From the time he was introduced to the world of magic, Harry knew that Lord Voldemort was out to kill him, and with each year at Hogwarts he had to watch his back. This time it is no different. The stakes are much higher and when Hogwarts is being overrun by the ministry, the students are unable to practice magic. Delores Umbrage, the new head mistress of Hogwarts, really tests the students with all of her rules and other idiosyncrasies. She is one of the true villains of the movie because her goal was not only to keep the children from practicing magic, but to keep them from having any enjoyment in school at all. However, throughout the film Harry teams up with his sidekicks Hermione, Ron, the twins, and a few others in order to show that they can do more than practice spells but actually use them. They each overcome some aspect of fear, which does wonders for their learning process. Many unsavory characters enter and exit along the way, intent on thwarting the path for Harry and his friends. However, all have their time when the Order of the Phoenix is underway. This movie is a real testament to the wonders of the film, animation, and special effects industry. These people are brilliant and the hard working actors and actresses are just as wonderful.

People should have a better appreciated for what film brings to the world. With this film is extra excitement, thrilling sequences, and innovative imagination that never ends. One can hardly wait for the next installment which will probably not occur for another two years. However, we have five previous Harry Potter films to keep us filled with ingenious entertainment. Every one, be sure to support J.K. Rowling in the last Harry Potter book which is out in stores now!
