Now, onto the insane people and their shipping. You can find a size 2t dress on ebay for 1.00, but some shmuck is charging $8.00 to ship it! Now, look. I can go to walmart and buy one of those soft bubble mailers for $ .79 and ship a package via USPS 1st class parcel (as long as it is under 13 oz) for only $2.45 The math on that is $3.24 so WHY on earth are people charging $8-$15 to ship ONE item that weighs about 8 oz? I found some super cute gymboree clothes for one of my baby boys on ebay and the seller had mispelled Gymboree so no one was bidding on the clothes. There were 4 sweaters she had listed separately for .99 and was charging $5.00 shipping. I messaged her and asked her if she could combine shipping and I'd buy all 4 sweaters. She emailed back all friendly and said she would only charge me $16 for shipping! WHAT? Ok, granted, $20 for FOUR Gymboree brand sweaters is still a bargain, but I don't like being ripped off!!! Sweaters can (*can*) be heavy because of the material they are made out of, but I still doubt that all four of those infant sweaters could have possibly weighed more than 36 oz. Now, to ship 4 sweaters I may have purchased a larger bubble mailer for $1.29 but I most likely would have used one of the $1.29 boxes that walmart sells and mailed the sweaters all together in one box via USPS PRIORITY. To ship an item priority (which is the cheaper way to go if something is more than 13 oz) would have cost me $4.55 . Therefore, I did NOT respond back to the lady or buy the sweaters. I am simply not going to be cheated when it comes to shipping and handling. I have had a lot of experience shipping stuff and I have ALWAYS charged real estimates for shipping for my own customers. I think that people are just trying to take advantage of others in order to feel better about low bids on Ebay. A lot of poor people really get suckered in too because they see something of great value for $1.00 on ebay, they bid (which is legally binding) and then they win it. They do their little victory dance and THEN they realize that the shipping is $54 or something equally ridiculous!!!
Ebay is just insane these days. The ONLY reason I haven't left them for good is because I have sincerely researched and tried other online auction sites. The sad and honest truth is that people on the other sites are basically only selling. The other sites are not as well known or trusted and the buyers just aren't buying off of them. It's very sad. Unfortunately, 'Fee-bay' has the monopoly over the online auctions. I can't wait for some wonderful online auction to come and pull the rug out from under them. I'll be waiting with popcorn to enjoy the fall of the giant. They used to be all about buyers/sellers. Now they are just out to get all the money that they possibly can.

Post a CommentI agree with you. I gave up trying to sell on eBay when I figured out they were making more money from my items than I did.
I feel your pain! I just bought a christmas ornament on ebay that weighed practically nothing, and paid $6 shipping. I still got it cheaper than at a store, but I was really burned.
That completely makes sense! I was wondering why they always do that. It is soooo annoying and so rotten.
People on Ebay charge an insane amount for shipping, because they are trying to cheat the Ebay system. If someone sells something for $1 and charges $8 for shipping they only have to pay Ebay a final sale fee percentage of the $1 as opposed to the $8 they really should be charging for the price. It is against Ebays rules, but people do it all the time. People should start using ioffer more, they don't charge anything to list.
