Why Are Hobbies Inportant?

LMG
Have you ever met a person who didn't have any hobbies at all? What about someone who has a few hobbies? Think about the differences in these people.

People who have hobbies tend to be more relaxed, feel better about themselves, and seem to be more creative. Hobbies can help ward off stress because they provide an outlet. A creative outlet for your energy. They can help ward off depression by keeping a person active in some area of life or helping to get their mind off their worries and troubles. Hobbies can provide a person with the sense of accomplishment. They can improve a person's physical health, as well as mental health.

A person who has no hobbies to speak of is more likely to be up-tight, stressed out, and possibly depressed. They have no outlet for their emotions, therefore; they keep them inside.

Whether you like to read, write, rebuild cars, or even go sky-diving, you have an outlet. A place to go whether it be mentally or physically to escape the every day. We all need a break from the normal hustle and bustle of life. Without that, we tend to forget how to have fun or relax at all.

The guy who likes to spend time tinkering around in his garage rebuilding a car or working on some other project, feels a sense of accomplishment when that project is complete. He knows that it is his own, and he can take as long as he wants to complete it. Her knows that when he is finished with his project, it is his own. The opinions of others will not effect his finances or relationships. He didn't have to take on the project because it was a requirement of a job. He did it for no other reason than he wanted to. He enjoyed doing it.

The woman who always seems to have her nose is a book uses this as her escape from the every day life. If you ask most avid readers, they will tell you that when they read, they can visualize the things that the book describe, and they often put themselves in the place of one of the characters in the book. They get no monetary gain from finishing the book, no recognition, just the satisfaction of doing it. Reading a book takes a persons mind off of their problems if only for a little while. It doesn't make a problem go away, just provides a way to get your mind off of it for a while. When the reader puts the book down, they may be able to approach life's problems a little differently having had the time to relax.

Writing is also another hobby that can be very beneficial. You don't even have to let anyone ever see what you write. You can simply write down whatever is on your mind, and throw it away when you are done. A lot of people do that. This helps a person let it all out without hurting anyone's feelings or causing an argument. It is the writers way of relaxing. When they are done, often times they feel less depressed, less stressed, and feel as if they are think more clearly.

The sky-diver escapes the normal every day life with thrill seeking. They get a sense of accomplishment from jumping out of planes. Maybe, they do this to clear their heads. Maybe jumping out of planes helps them to relax. Whatever the case, this is their hobby. They chose it because they enjoy doing it.

Some people exercise as their hobby. They know the health benefits, but are more interested in the joy of doing it. Whether it be going for a walk or weight training, they feel a sense of accomplishment and well-being when they finish their routine. We have all heard the benefits of regular exercise!

In conclusion, hobbies can provide an outlet for creativity, as well as emotions. They can help a person to relax, de-stress,have fun, and feel a sense of accomplishment. Hobbies can help a person be less depressed by giving them a way to take their mind off of their troubles. Very beneficial, if you ask me. So, what's your hobby?
