Why I Hope Senator Barack Hussein Obama Does Not Become President. A Debate with Jim Stillman

A Reply to Jim Stillman's "Why Barack Obama is an Excellent Choice to Be President '

Randy Inman
I first became aware of Mr. Stillman when I responded to one of his articles and wrote one in support of it. So I got to reading his other stuff and thought "uh oh another misguided Liberal". But he is not the typical Liberal who talks down to conservatives and he makes good points in his articles.

A little background on myself before I reply to Mr. Stillman'sarticle on why he hopes Senator Obama will be the next president. Jim calls himself a Liberal Libertarian and I would be considered a conservative Libertarian if my state (North Carolina) would allow them on the ballot. I have been a Republican most of my life though to my everlasting shame I once voted for Bill Clinton.

Why I hope Senator Barack Hussein Obama does not become President.

Mr. Stillman points out that Senator Clinton started negative campaigning and he is correct. I dislike Obama but I detest Hilary Clinton, so I am at least somewhat happy that she isn't going to win the nomination. At least it appears that way at the time of this writing.

He also states that the far right of the Republican Party has run it's course. That may be true but I think it's due to selling out to the Liberals. He is also right about the Democrats squabbling among themselves. Now would be the time for a strong Conservative candidate to run away with votes of people tired of hearing liberals fuss among themselves.

But this is where the sellout comes in, we don't have one. We have John McCain who is a Liberal in everything but name. I think indifference set in with die hard conservatives and the rest were swayed by a liberal media and their agenda. I talk issues with people at work and when out and about. I can't think of a single person I have talked to recently who is a Liberal. However I asked the same people if the vote. I would guess out of around 15, 4 said they will vote this year.

I will give Democrats credit, they will get people out to vote, more so than my conservative friends do anyway. And a lot of people get their political coverage from the mainstream media. The media drummed it into people's heads that getting along with Democrats is the only way for Republicans to survive. Well when you help Democrats with their agenda you are not a conservative.

But alas McCain is better than Obama in my opinion. He DOES have some conservative thoughts and has moved farther to the right to appease some voters. And I think most people would agree that in terms of National Defense and the war on terror that McCain is the better candidate.

And those are the only issues I think a lot of experience IS needed. I won't come down on Obama for his lack of experience in other issues. But we do need a strong military now and the war in Iraq should be finished. Not that I think either Obama or Clinton would really pull troops out. They will "Concentrate on the economy" and the liberal media will quit harping about the war and let the news of it fade away.

Mr. Stillman also points out that there is little difference between Obama and Hilary Clinton in their views. That frankly scares the hell out of me. The Liberals are driving us closer and closer to socialism which does not work and would destroy this country.

I assume Obama would raise taxes even more thus running more companies out of the country. When there are no business's there are no jobs, no jobs no money to pay the taxes. So Obama wouldn't have the resources he wants so desperately to give away. Thus his government would destroy it's self.

Then people would flock back to conservative candidates which would be a good thing. But by then it may be too late to save the country. China is heading more and more towards world domination. And yes I know China is Socialist but its odd how they were more or less a 3rd world country until they started adopting more of a capitalist outlook in their business dealings.

I say I assume Senator Obama would raise taxes but it's hard to say. Because he seldom says anything. His speeches are full of change but he does not care to elaborate. This tells me his real views are not what would get him voted in.

The fact that grown people are fainting (if it's not people planted to do so) amuses me. Now I might faint if Jessica Simpson suddenly became a Chubby Chaser and gave me a "come hither" look but that's about it. People are buying into the Change but without knowing what it is. That is scary and that is why Obama should not be president.

My compliments and thanks to Mr. Stillman for his article and thanks to everyone who read our little debate on Associatedcontent.com.

    I suspect they are.

By now I'm guessing a lot of the people who were so looking forward to "change" are wishing they had their nickel back.

Regardless of why you included his full name, it IS his name. I'm sure a lot of people took a while to get used to his first name. People need to get used to his middle name and get over it. I wish the fictional Obama created by the hype did become prez, but he is a mere mortal. It is impossible for him to live up to our expectations. Anybody after GW will be change for the better by default, so I cannot understand how we went for that mantra.

I agree, Randy. Clinton was an unsavory and dangerous character as a human being, but he was actually fairly moderate as far as policy. Obama has the same slick persona that causes entitlement-minded liberals' eyes to glaze over and drool to run out of their mouths, but is a much more risky gamble in the political arena. Even my 13yo is scared he might win - she's been following the race voraciously and is very apprehensive about tomorrow.

And boy have I changed my mind. Clinton is way better than Ocommie, er Obama.

I did stick to the facts his middle name IS Hussein and I did it to annoy Liberals who have been insulting people on blogs every since Obama crawled out from under his rock.

  • Carol Forsloff11/3/2008

Wow, use Obama's middle name. That's a red flag. After doing that, I couldn't read anymore of the article.
That is meant to suggest extremism and is outside the boundaries of good writing. Stick to the facts and your work will be credible.
Innuendos don't work with people who think outside of commercial sound bites. I teach journalism and ask my students not to use titles that take a position in the most trite way. P.S. I am not a political liberal with this answer as I voted Republican for local elections in Louisiana, just not in the Presidential one. I just think this woman is a good writer and spoiled it by doing what journalists should not do, falling in line with those who cross it.

Ok stupid is, I am neither a Republican nor do I have money. Get a job and a hair cut.

  • stupid not9/2/2008

You Republicans should can it already, the destruction of this country and its people at the hand
of Bush and the Republican regime is a sin...anyone is better than Mcain, who is a Bush of another color. You probably
are sitting pretty in NC with money, what about the rest of the Americans?

  • Tyler Mills3/24/2008

I couldn't disagree with you more on politics Randy, but it was still a well thought out piece. McCain certainly doesn't follow everything his party says, but no public official should.
