Why a House is a Home

Thoughts After a House Fire

Dusti Sparks-Myers
A house is a house
and a home is a home.
However, they are not
one and the same and
one must know the difference
in order to find real peace.

A house is just a house,
where people live and eat.
They do laundry, clean, and
handle everyday things.

A house keeps you warm
and can keep you dry.
However, a house is just a house,
with anyone inside.

A home is a home,
where happy families live and love.
They do laundry, clean,
and handle everyday things.

However, a home is not just a home
it is a special place.
A home that gives warm feelings
and safety inside.

A home gives love
and a feeling of pride.
The difference between
a house and a home
can be felt through the walls
with a soft gentle touch.

A home makes you feel great,
because it is where
your loved ones realize,
that wood and block and glass
make just a house.

However, add a happy family
and the mix becomes
a house that beckons
"home sweet home"
and embraces you with love.
