Why Humanity Should Populate Other Planets

And Extend the Reach of Humanity

Kurt Evans
Although the money to research this subject of whether humanity should populate other planets is lagging, there are several good reasons why humanity should populate other planets.

Earth

As the population on the Earth continues to increase and people are living longer than they ever did before, there comes a point in time when you have to look at your resources and ask yourself, how am I going to feed, clothe, and shelter everybody in humanity?

The Quick Fix

The quick fix answer is to have a war so that it will kill a bunch of humanity off, but what if there was another solution? What if we could come up with the technology to develop other planets into livable civilizations? Wouldn't that be a much more ethical solution to the problem than war?

War

War is messy, nasty, and unethical. In the case of war, it always seems like after a while, you forget what you're fighting about anyways. In cases of war, it seems like after so many people get killed on each side, that the two sides agree to stop fighting.

Other Planets

Imagine, developing other planets into livable civilizations for humanity. That means more land to grow food, more space to house people, and more room for people to run around, be creative, and do their own thing.

New Possibilities

I think it's a better solution to populate other planets. Too many people get stuck on what different books like the Bible and the Koran say about the universe. Why not approach life with the acceptance of the fact that you don't know everything, and open your mind up to new possibilities?

Reposting because captcha messed up my first one. They did it in Red Planet with Val Kilmer. They sent algae to Mars and it created Oxygen making an atmosphere around the planet. This is probably easier said than done. And there was a common ancestor. Not an ape or a man but a "mape" if you will. Just because we don't have empiracle evidence that intelligent life exists on other planets doesnt mean life isn't created from lower species. Or that intelligent life is created from a higher power. Molecular Biology and the study of cell production does, however. All this God talk is making me blush.

Having just watched Atlantis launch yesterday, I sure hope the U.S. keeps the space program going.
Whether or not we start populating other planets, it's still a great thing to reach for... and an adventure that I bet God would smile on. :)

Hi, Kurt. You are quiet right. Exploring other planets is a natural drive in men. Why would we not pursue it? I don't understand where the Bible makes any charge against reaching into space, save perhaps in a mis-application of the tower of Babel. But, I must say this: If scripture actually directed us not to enter space, I would joyfully live with the closed mind. "Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and what is the perfect will of God".

A very interesting topic! Gives people something to 'chew' on!

I think it would be pretty sweet to find another planet to live on! I just ask that I'm not included in the testing phase!

Interesting article....I personally like this planet but if another one becomes available for people to flock to, I say good for them. I personally would like to see some of the big headed politicians take off for a new planet. That would be a great day!
