Why I'd Like to Meet Philadelphia Eagles QB, Michael Vick

As an avid football fan the current athlete I'd most like to meet, is Michael Vick. I'm not a Philadelphia Eagles fan, or Vick fan necessarily, but I'm intrigued by his story. I still remember draft day, when Dan Reeves and the Falcons made the trade with San Diego, to move up to the #1 spot to select Vick. He was a superb athlete who was going to turn the Falcons franchise around.

After six years in Atlanta, Vick was arrested and sentenced to prison for his involvement in dog fighting. The QB spent two years away from football before he was reinstated. Vick began his comeback as the Eagles third-string quarterback. He eventually earned the starting job during his second season with the team. Despite playing in just 12 games last season, Vick set career marks with 3,018 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 233 competitions. If I could spend a day with Vick, there are several questions I'd ask him.

1. I'd be interested in knowing what was different for Vick this year? Has his field vision improved? Is he reading defenses better, faster?

2. How was he able to get back in football condition so quickly?

3. What advice does he have for young QB's, like, Ryan Mallet and Cam Newton, who are trying to overcome past mistakes as they enter the league?

4. How has he been able to overcome his past mistakes?

5. Are the thoughts of what he's done to the animals, his family and career constantly on his mind?

6. What kept him going in prison?

There was a great deal of protest when Vick returned to the NFL. He endured and not only completed his comeback, he had a phenomenal year. He's appeared to have grown as a player, and hopefully he's grown as a man as well.

The last thing I'd ask Vick, as we took in a 49ers game in San Francisco, is to take a look at Alex Smith. As a San Francisco 49ers fan, maybe Vick could offer some advice for Smith on how to salvage his career. At the end of the day I think I'd know more about football, and life, after my time with Michael Vick.
