Why I'm a Committed Apple Fan

Steven Moneyworth
The great question that many people ask themselves when buying a computer is whether the computer should be based on the Apple (Mac) or Microsoft (PC) operating system. In this article, I explain why I am and will continue to be a fan of Apple products.

For me, the best thing about any Apple product is its user interface. It isn't intrusive, there aren't frequent and unnecessary pop-up dialogs, and yet everything I need to know is plainly and simply communicated to me.

If I buy a laptop from Apple, I know it won't come with a bunch of stickers on it advertising features that I've already paid for, and it won't come bloated with trial software that will do little but annoy me in 90 days. Most Windows laptops do have these advertisements. Because of this, I believe that Apple products are much more aesthetically pleasing than PC counterparts. Apple products tend to have a minimalist exterior to them, while having specifications matching higher end PCs.

Growing up, I always used a Windows PC, and can still operate one effectively when I need to. So while the Windows interface is not as confounding to me as it is to some people, I can still say with confidence that Macs are easier to operate. For example, installing programs on a Mac is extremely easy, and is mostly a drag-and-drop operation. With the new Mac App Store, this process has become even easier.

The biggest downside to Apple products, in my opinion, is that they are somewhat more expensive than their counterparts from other companies. That being said, some people, including myself, will be willing to pay a little extra for the ease of use and performance of Apple products.

While Microsoft PCs are functional and many people have chosen to use them over the years, I believe that the user experience that Apple products offer makes them a better choice than their Microsoft-based counterparts. Even though Apple products cost more, I believe that the price difference is justified based on the difference in quality that is offered. Ultimately, it is for the individual to decide whether Apple or Microsoft products are better. As for myself, I know that I will continue to be an Apple customer for as long as they make quality products.

What is your opinion on Apple and Microsoft products? If you have a strong opinion in either direction, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
