The industry was born from and relies on its community
Unlike many other hobbies and technologies, gaming was first born out of the need to entertain people. And because people wanted more, the industry took this seriously and began to develop more. The fact is that the demand for gaming is what drives developers on an endless quest to make the ultimate game. The industry has come along way from the original bouncing pong game to the development of almost real looking graphics. Now is the best time to be in games development and if you have just enough skills and an enormous imagination, then you can be the next big thing in the industry as well.
Your knowledge is their power
What you know can be used to your advantage. Since you are the gamer, you know exactly what you want and you know exactly what entertains you. Game developers listen to their audience and put their collected consumer ideas into next version releases of their games or into entirely new titles altogether. Have you ever wondered how these game developers come up with such great ideas? It is because with their extensive research and surveys that you have probably been answering that they are able to release such successful games.
Your dedication is their moneymaker
Your passion for gaming is the reason that the gaming industry exists. This is both good and bad, depending on which perspective you choose to accept. It's good because the developers in this industry take your suggestions seriously. Why? It is your suggestions that help them to make money so that they can continue with this lifestyle. The bad thing is that you are an exploited resource of ideas. Ever joined a gaming forum to complain about missing features in a game? Well, these developers also read those major forums and can take your suggestions and complaints to further improve their programming or ideas. The problem is some of these ideas were most probably yours originally.
Insatiable market
If you are a hardcore gamer, there really is no end to your appetite for newer games being introduced into the market. The more features that you want to see in games, the more games will be released. This is basic supply and demand. Right now, the largest markets are found in the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom. These three countries are the largest producers of video games. India and China should follow suit and with large populations from those countries, it's no wonder that games developers are not quitting their jobs just yet.
