Why is it Important to Know Who Jesus Is?

Pat Lunsford
We should care about who Jesus is because he is the only way to the Father and according to scripture, if we don't have Jesus we don't have God. (2 John 1:9)

From Genesis to Revelation the scriptures point to salvation through Jesus Christ. "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me... For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me." (John 5:39-46)

Jesus taught that in this world there are two kinds of seeds- God and Satan. Which of these seeds has taken root in your heart?

Obedience to God is to accept his way of salvation which is through Jesus Christ."Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." (John 6:29)

Jesus was God in the flesh and the sacrifice at Calvary was the last. The Father has given Christ full authority and one day every knee will bow to him whether in heaven or in hell. He is the visible image of the invisible God and in him dwells the fullness of the Godhead.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us." (John 1-14)

From a cloud, the father commanded us to listen to His Son."Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, This is my dearly loved Son. Listen to him.'" (Mark 9:4)

All authority has been given to Jesus Christ and his entire focus is the will of the Father whose will is to glorify his Son. The Holy Spirit also testifies of Jesus and seeks his glory so believe it; Christ will be glorified above every name!

We should care about who he is because he is the only way to heaven. He has conquered death and is preparing a place right now for those who love him and those who love him obey him.

"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." (John 14:21)

What are his commandments? They can all be summed up in one passage. "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." (John 15:12)

He came to his own and his own knew him not. He was innocent and totally without sin. He was brutally crucified on a cross yet he made the hill on which it stood. He suffered the wrath of the Father for all of us! Nevertheless, there are some who thumb their noses at him and go so far as to use his name as a curse word.

Why should we care about who Jesus is?

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Rev. 1:7-8)
