Do you really want to become a millionaire? Do you know what it really takes to be a millionaire? Do you know what a millionaire looks like nowadays? Let's look into this world of the financially set and see whether you want to be a millionaire or just live happy.

While growing up in America we have been taught that in order to be happy, we needed to be rich. Our teachers and peers often taught us about the American dream and as we grew into an adult, our goal in life was to make as much money as possible. Often misinformed, we have stereotyped millionaires into a class that is always deemed happy and without fault or grief. No one in our life ever taught us the true story on how a millionaire acts or lives.

We now live in a society where our main goal is that we all want to become millionaires. Since the day we walk into school, we are always told that if we work hard enough, we can become rich. A big percentage of us actually picked occupations that paid well, instead of choosing an occupation that would make us happy. Most of us went to work the day we left school to run after this dream to become a millionaire. Some of us would rather work double shifts, move to a different location, and run after this dream like it's a do-or-die situation.

What does it really mean to become a millionaire? well, it's according to how you still want to live. In reality, millionaires don't necessarily live the lifestyle you were taught. Here is the real facts on the average millionaire.

One of the reasons some of us are millionaires is not the fact that we live "large", it's simply because that fact that we don't really live at all. Working non-stop and investing our money into sure bets, we often live simple lives, buy used cars, and don't spend that much money. Millionaires are looked at by what we are told, as people who buy alot and live lavish lifestyles. In truth, most millionaires tend to keep a tight fist around their money, living on the bare essentials and making solid financial decisions.

Alot of millionaires did not make this type of money overnight either, taking sometimes decades before they hit the million mark. Most millionaires live a lifestyle similar to a hermit or a simpleton. They usually don't sound off alarms notifying people that they are millionaires and they tend to live in ways most people would not really want to live by. Here are some definitions you never hear of, but come into play once you become a millionaire.

Maintenance

This is a word rarely mentioned, but comes into play the second you become a millionaire and want either alot of things, or very expensive ones. One of the things I have learned early is that once you buy an expensive toy or property, it has to be maintained. You can't just buy a lamborghini and expect it to take care of itself or spend chump change to maintain it. One of the things most people don't understand about being a millionaire is that most millionaires don't want alot of expensive things. The maintenance on alot of things cost money and the more expensive it is, the more it's going to cost taking care of it. It's been a proven fact that alot of people who have won lotteries, have often went into debt because they never seen the future outcome on keeping maintenance on the houses, cars, and expensive toys they buy the day they receive their winnings. Maintenance on anything you own costs, so buying alot of things is gonna cost you more than the price you originally paid for for the item.

Security

What do you think is going to happen once your friends and family find out you are a millionaire?
Now ask yourself this question, "What do you think a total stranger is going to think"? What about a stranger or neighbor who is desperate? That's right, once someone is financially set, they often have to look into and possibly spending money for security reasons. They often have to oversee their families safety as well as their own, purchasing things like security systems, alarms and security. Millionaires also understand that it's quite risky to walk around life non-chalantly once they are noticed as millionaires. Protection is often key whenever they make plans to visit the park, go on a vacation, or do things as simple as going to the neighborhood pub. Your life generally changes, and it's never for the better when it comes to the security for yourself and your family. Do you want to live this way?

Staying a Millionaire

Last, but not least, is the ability to hold onto this type of money. The average millionaire has to look at keeping the million(s) in his possession. The easiest thing to do for a millionaire is to actually lose money now. With the ongoing chances of losing in on most opportunities and investments, the hardest move to make is not becoming a millionaire, it's staying one. Most millionaires fall short early after they become a millionaire because of this simple step; having the discipline to hang onto it. The average millionaire will have offers and investment opportunities constantly beating at his door and this progressive solicitation never stops.

So, do you really want to become a millionaire, or just be happy? Remember, most millionaires are just people who are very disciplined and generally live a lifestyle as such. Some are happy, some are not. Some lose out on family and friends, while others gather friends easier than the money they collected. The reality for most is that they really don't want to become rich, they are only wanting to be happy, and we all know by heart; money doesn't buy happiness.

If you still want to be a millionaire, do some research. Is it really worth losing everything you have and are stuck living a lifestyle that in reality would probably be one that you generally would frown upon? Is making that much money worth living that way? To gain money, what would you have to sacrifice? The answers are far different then what we were brought up to believe.
