Why It's OK to Be in Your 20s And Have Never Been in a Relationship

What to Say to Someone Who Asks You Why You've Never Had a Boyfriend/Girlfriend

You've spent your teens pouring over books and hitting home runs for your high school team. And the little free time you had left, you spent working to pay for college. So, no wonder you haven't had time for a relationship. Interest in the opposite sex is one thing; doing something about it is another. So, if you've never been on a date, don't feel like you're some freak of nature. In fact, you've got some pretty sizable company. Let's face it; kids are kids longer.

But now you're in your twenties and it's time to date. Just one problem. When the question comes up as to how many relationships you've been in, don't start sliding under the table. No, be honest. Explain that you were too darned busy making something of yourself, and say :"Do you have a problem with that?" Because if your date does, run. And let's just say you don't feel like sharing too much information on a first date, fine. Simply say, "It's none of your business,: in a smiling sort of way. And if you continue go out with this person, you can address the issue...another time.

Remember, everyone these days is doing things later, because we live longer! They're driving later, graduating from college later, getting married later. So it just makes sense that your first date will no longer be at 16. You may be 26 when you decide to start dating. It's OK. As long as you're meeting people, having fun, and simply trying to get ahead in life. As your mother probably told you, you have the rest of your life to be in "adult" relationships and deal with the pressures that go along with it.

And when you're finally read to reveal to someone how many dates you've actually had in the past, be proud. Because the person you're with should feel pretty special since he/she is in a select minority!
