Why Do I Need Jesus?

Pat Lunsford
If we don't have Jesus we don't have God.

"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son." (2John.1:9)

There is no ambiguity or hidden meaning here. The meaning is straightforward and simple. The apostle states clearly that we can't have one without the other as Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14) who has given him full authority. From the Old to the New Testament everything points to Jesus Christ.

God is holy, which is the absolute absence of sin so the unrighteous cannot enter the presence of God. However, we who belong to Christ have direct access to the Father because he doesn't see our unrighteousness but sees the righteousness of Christ in us. Therefore, without Jesus no one can approach the Father.

According to John, anyone who believes in the son of God will have eternal life but those who don't are condemned.

"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (Jn. 3:18)

In other words, there is no other way to heaven. Those who die before accepting the salvation that God has provided through the Son (no one is guaranteed another day of life) will die in their sins.

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

Jesus died for all men but since he has given us a will of our own we choose our own path. Ultimately, there are only two paths- one leads to eternal life and the other to destruction.

Those who turn to Christ are drawn by the Father. We who believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God recognized the truth and naturally drifted towards him. Those who turn away from the truth don't necessarily disbelieve it they just don't want to accept it because they had rather hold onto their sin.

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved." (John 3:19-21)

Believers and unbelievers can be compared to bats and moths. Put them in a dark room and the bats will persecute the moths. Turn on a light and the bats will flee towards the darkness but the moths will gravitate to the light.

"And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." (John 1:5)

"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." (John 6:37)

A day is coming, and is very near, when the door will be closed. Why delay so great an offer? We need Jesus because the Father Himself said, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him." (Matt.17:5)

HEAR YE HIM!

    Hi.
I found your Web Site by Google
And I wish you the best you can get,
the peace of God through Jesus Christ.

    The New Birth

"No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent
me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written
in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man
therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh
unto me." John 6:44-45. "And he said, Therefore said I unto you,
that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of
    my Father." (Verse 65).

The Father draws people to Jesus. Jesus baptizes them by the
Holy Spirit, and the Spirit gives them the new life in Christ so
that they become born again. We become new creations in
Christ. When God created the first man, Adam, he breathed
into his nostrils the breath of life; and man becomes a living
soul. Genesis 2:7. When Jesus baptizes us by the Holy Spirit
it is a new creating act. The Spirit gives us the new life in
