Johnny Depp is a very well known talent and has been acting since the early eighties. With his looks and opportunity he could have accepted very lucrative pay days in big action movies and blockbuster mainstream movies. After his initial success in 21 Jump Street on television in the mid eighties, Johnny Depp chose to take his time accepting projects that would stretch his acting ability and test his longevity in the business. Along the way he took a lot of risks with his career and played everything from a guy with scissors for hands to an undercover cop busting the mafioso to a drug running kingpin.
Johnny Depp moved away from Hollywood and the United States citing it is far easier to live in France as a celebrity as the french simply don't care that he is famous. Here is a man that is concerned with learning his chosen craft and not the side effects of his talent. He seems like a very humble person that just wants to be good at what he does for a living. He has always shunned the spotlight and has enjoyed playing odd parts like Ed Wood where he played the now famous director whom liked cross dressing with pink women's sweaters. This is not the kind of part you would see Bruce Willis play.
Recently Johnny Depp accepted roles in The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and easily stole the show from the rest of the cast. His performance in this franchise of movies was extraordinary as mainstream movies go. He puts everything he has into his roles and is not reluctant to play themes that other actors stay away from.

I agree. And Johnny Depp takes on the most fun roles...Fear & Loathing, Pirates, Sweeny Todd, Willy Wonka. Always looks like he's having fun in his work. And that helps him shine.
I love Johnny Depp, well as far as acting goes. Fear and Loathing was a great movie! I also happen to love Edward Scissorhands. Great article.
