Why is Jon & Kate Plus 8 so Popular?

Are Kate & Jon Planning on Having More Children?

Single Mom
Ever wonder why a reality show depicting the day to day life of parents, such as Jon & Kate Plus 8, is so popular? Jon & Kate Plus 8 shows parents, Jon and Kate, raising a houseful. They have twin girls, Cara and Mady, who are eight years old. They also have sextuplets, Alexis, Aaden, Collin, Leah, Hannah and Joel, who are four years old. The Learning Channel ("TLC") developed a series following the Gosselin family of ten, after an one hour special on this family was such a hit by viewers.

Part of the reason Jon & Kate plus 8 is so popular is because the show is real. Moms and dads know that parenting is hard and it can get frustrating. Kate is real and honest. She does not sugar coat the fact that parenting is hard, especially with 8 children. Potty training can be a nightmare. Having only one child makes me realize that I have it easy, compared to the Gosselins.

Kate and Jon have disagreements on screen. Kate corrects Jon and tells him what he does wrong. Jon rolls his eyes at her. Yet their marriage is solid. They show the raw footage. Nothing is re-shot. There is screaming, crying, stomping feet- and then there are the kids.

The kids are very well behaved, but lets face it- you get together 6 kids of the same age, let alone siblings, and there is going to be fights, arguments and temper tantrums.

Jon and Kate take it all in stride. This show has become a major hit on TLC. The family refers to the show as the "family job". From the family job, they have been able to earn thousands of dollars through DVD's, writing a book, appearances, such as speaking appointments to various groups, and various endorsements. They have also received great perks- such as Kate's free tummy tuck (from a viewer's husband who is a plastic surgeon) to a trip to Hawaii where Jon and Kate recently renewed their vows, surrounded with their entire brood.

The twins are currently in second grade at a small private school. The sextuplets started preschool this past September.

And believe it or not, they are not through! In a recent People Magazine article, Kate and Jon disclosed that they dream about adopting a baby girl from Korea. With all of the parenting they have done, they would like to know what it is like to raise a "single".

Yea right! "Real, disagreements, well-behaved children?" You must be watching a different show, Kate? Take the show off the air TLC. Stop exploiting your children for financial gain. Your TV lives are not real lives. When the cameras stop rolling, lights go down, and camera crews are out of your house, you will have reality and so will your children. Stop trying to push ridiculous above comments on the smart viewing public.

I misspelled "seens," yes, I know; should be "scenes." I've been working too hard today...

Actually, I read on another site that some seens ARE re-shot or redone, because they didn't quite pan out as anticipated, or, turned out to be very boring. There is probably basic scripting, as far as what to do once at a particular destination; conversation starters with the twins; luring a child into a tricky situation such as handing him a heavy ice cream cone and hoping he'll spill it to see how he reacts; etc.
