Why I Love Bumkins All-in-One Cloth Diapers

Bumkins All-in-One Cloth Diapers were the first type of cloth diapers that I tried. I immediately loved them. From their cute designs to strong velcro, these diapers are crafted to last in sturdy material. They are very absorbent and easy to use and launder. They cost a little more than some other brands of diapers, but they are still one of the more affordable brands. Their resale value is good, and best of all, the outside becomes cool when wet--alerting you that it's time for a change!

Price: The price is certainly right with Bumkins AIO Cloth Diapers. They are more expensive than Kushies or homemade diapers, but overall very affordable compared to other brands of all-in-one diapers. The plain white ones are $15.95 new, and their color printed diapers cost $17.95. This is for all sizes, small to large. Extra large and youth diapers cost more. This is a great price because many brands of all-in-one diapers cost a lot more per diaper. These diapers will last a long time, through several children, and are well worth the money. (You can save by buying in bulk!)

Resale Value: The resale value, compared to the initial price, isn't that great, but it is better than nothing. These diapers will still sell gently used for more than most brands. A diaper in good condition could go for as much as $10, maybe more, but even a worn one will go for at least $5. This is good news for sellers, who can earn back some of the money they spent on diapering, and for buyers, who can make cloth diapering much more affordable by buying secondhand. Bumkins All-in-One Cloth Diapers are a great investment.

Laundering: Laundering is easy. I have always dumped solid poop out into the toilet and then thrown the diapers in a hamper with an air freshener. When it is time to wash them, I use Tide with Febreze as well as the presoak, extended spin, and second rinse options on my washing machine. They take several hours to air dry and about an hour or two in the dryer, which is perfectly safe to use on these diapers. I add some fabric softener to ensure no smell stays behind. Stains come out quite easily with a spray of Shout. Bumkins All-in-One Cloth Diapers are easy to wash.

Ease of Use: Bumkins AIO Cloth Diapers are a piece of cake to use. You lay the child on the diaper, fold the front over the child, and velcro it shut at the sides. They work just like disposable diapers--except that you wash them after use. They are very easy to put on and take off.

Absorbency: They are quite absorbent. The only time I've had one leak is if my son pees all night or if I leave one on too long during the day, which is rare. They don't bulk up like disposable diapers, but they can hold lots of pee! They can get a little heavy when wet, but so do all diapers. Bumkins All-in-One Cloth Diapers don't require diaper covers and are very leak-resistant.

Special Uses: Bumkins AIO Cloth Diapers are very compact when folded and fit very nicely into a diaper bag. They are the perfect-on-the-go diaper. The outer material is water-resistant and made of a material similar to swim trunks, so I imagine they will make great swim diapers this summer! Because, without a liner, they let the child know when he is wet, they make great training diapers for toddlers who are toilet training.

Comfort: These don't annoy my son at all. He doesn't mind wearing them and only removes them when they are quite wet. The material is very soft. Unfortunately, the flannel doesn't keep wetness away from my son's bum, so he does notice when he's wet. This is a good thing for toddlers who are nearing potty training time, but not for my son! The problem is easily solved by placing a thin fleece liner inside the diaper, which keeps my son's bottom nice and dry. Bumkins All-in-One Cloth Diapers are definitely affordable.

Designs: Bumkins come in a variety of different designs. The basic white diapers are fine, but I recommend getting a few snazzy colored ones. There is something for everyone. We have zebra-striped and leopard-spotted ones, one with zoo animals, and one with fish all over it. There are plenty more designs to chose from.

Strength: The material is very sturdy. My diapers have been through at least two children so far and don't show any wear and tear at all. They look as bright, colorful, and clean as the day they were produced. These diapers last a long time and are not prone to ripping or tearing. They can go in the washing machine and dryer. Bumkins AIO Cloth Diapers will last for years.

My Favorite Feature: The outer material feels cold when the diapers are very wet, so it is easy to tell if it is time for a diaper change. This material does not, however, become wet or make clothes feel damp. It just becomes cool. This is a great feature and one of the reasons I love Bumkins.

My Least Favorite Feature: Some of the designs are extremely bright and very tacky, and they just don't appeal to me. I love everything else about Bumkins All-in-One Cloth Diapers

Rating: * * * * * 5 stars!!!

Where to Get Them: The Bumkins website and other sites that sell diapers, as well as diaper trading posts and exchange sites.

Bumkins are affordable, absorbent, and easy to use. They are not difficult to clean, and they can go right in the washer and dryer. Their resale value is good, and you can get used Bumkins in great shape at a good price. They make great on-the-go and swim diapers and can be used as training pants for older babies. Bumkins All-in-One Cloth Diapers are very comfortable and very sturdy. They even alert the parent when baby is wet by becoming cool. I absolutely love these diapers and will continue to use them for quite a while!

These diapers will actually feel cool, but not damp, on the outside when your baby is very wet. It is thus quite easy to tell when your baby needs a diaper change!

Diaperswappers.com is great for reselling and buying used

I prefer BumGenius AIO. I like the softness of the velcro and fit better. But AIO are definitely super easy!

That's great that these diapers are waterproof. When Mom cloth-diapered us, she used to use rubber pants (essentially plastic underwear that fit over the diaper to avoid leakage). But I highly doubt that you'd be able to find rubber pants anymore, so the waterproof material is a nice bonus.

I am going to try prefolds with #2. :) I'll have to hit you up for recommendations. (Or you could write an article!)

Great review. I've never used the Bumkins, as I stick with prefolds (and now my own handmade creations), but if I'm ever in the market for an AIO, I'll check these out.

Yes, they sure do, and many brands of cloth diapers have great resale value. :) All of mine were bought secondhand and are in great condition.
