For the babies, we use Aquaphor for a long list of reasons. It really works wonders on most diaper rashes, I frequently find that I can eliminate a rash overnight if I catch it soon enough, and I'm armed with Aquaphor.
A lot of times kids will develop strange rashes on their bodies for no apparent reason. Aquaphor is great for rashes that appear on the cheeks and chin from all the drooling associated with teething. Sometimes children get dry patches of skin on their arms, legs, backs or torsos and once again Aquaphor can treat it quickly and effectively. Using Aquaphor when your child dries off after his bath every evening is a great way to avoid rashes from developing as it keeps baby's skin soft and smooth.
In the colder months of the year when the heater is running full blast for the majority of the day, we find ourselves going through more Aquaphor than ever. The kids get slathered with a healthy dose of it in the morning and evening, and my husband and I use it as well, on chapped hands or lips. It also works wonderfully in place of other cuticle creams too. Regular use of Aquaphor on elbows, knees, feet and hands is reliably successful in keeps adult skin smooth and soft as well. Using Aquaphor before heading out into the sun or wind is also a great way to protect sensitive skin (but should not be used in place of sunscreen.)
Aquaphor is also a "magic potion" for minor cuts and scrapes. After my boys get a boo-boo, and we stop the bleeding and remove the band-aid, I dab a little Aquaphor on it daily until it heals. This protects cuts and scrapes from dirt and whatever else little boys might get in to! It works great for adult boo-boos too; I use it if I slightly burn of cut my fingers when working in the kitchen.
Aquaphor has virtually no smell, and while it is slightly greasy when you're applying it, be assured that it absorbs quickly and leaves no film at all. It's gentle on the most sensitive skin types, yet effective on dry, crackled , rough skin as well. Everyone in the family can use Aquaphor for a variety of uses and as you can see, Aquaphor has truly become a sort of "cure all" at our house. It's a great product that I've come to depend on.
