Why I Love Showtime's Weeds

Nicole Newton
Created by Jenji Kohan "Weeds" was released in 2005 on the Showtime Network. "Weeds" has a very creative plot line. Its all about suburban mother named Nancy Botwin who sells cannabis in her neighborhood. It started with the sudden death of her husband Judah, and her need to keep up with the finances and keep her family in a good neighborhood. She turns to a man named Conrad Shepard to help her with her cannabis sales. Nancy is in a constant struggle trying to keep her profession a secret. She lives in an affluent neighborhood and no one can find out about her secret. Nancy also has a teenage son Silas and a 10year old son Shane she must keep the secret from.

The show "Weeds" is very entertaining dark comedy. I love the show and the predicaments that Nancy gets herself into. The plot seems unrealistic right? But if you watch this show you will find that its not and it all seems very plausible. This show is absolutely hilarious and at times it is very serious and can bring a little tear to your eye as you watch how everyone deals and refuses to deal with the father Judas death.

Nancy Botwin is played by Mary-Louise Parker. Parker has been in movies such as Fried Green Tomatoes, Boys on the Side, and Saved! She has also been in many Broadway shows, as well as television movies and series. The show "Weeds" also stars Kevin Nealon who plays Doug Nelson an accountant and Nancy's business advisor and also one of her best clients. You probably remember Kevin Nealon from"Saturday Night Live" where he was a cast member from 1986 to 1995. Nealon's character is very funny and full of crazy surprises as he is pretty much always stoned.

Weeds will never disappoint you and at the end of every episode you will definitely want more. The characters in this show are unique and infectious. This show has lots of twists and turns and you will not get bored. The third season of "Weeds" will begin in August on Showtime. The first episode of Season 3 will air August 13th at 10pm Eastern Time, and Pacific Time. Go to www.sho.com to see a preview of what is to come! If you enjoy dark comedy and things that are a little quirky this show will be something you would definitely want to check out.

I disagree. It is a let down. I watch season one ep 1-7 and was turned off completely. It was mildly funny and the show itself has a naked gun comedy (slap stick) feel to it. Very lame. They throw sex in anywhere they can. Big turn off. Characters funny but that fades fast. Unrealistic and not engaging.
