Initially I purchased the White Westinghouse Electric Skillet for frying chicken. When my gas stove went out and I had to order a new one, my family still had to eat. So I began using this skillet for other meals. I found that it worked wonderfully for just about anything. Of course, I knew I could make hamburgers and other fried foods, but I also discovered I could make a stew, chili, casseroles, and a wide variety of other dishes.
The White Westinghouse Electric Skillet is simple to use. It allows the consumer to adjust the temperature to cook things at high heat as well as a lower setting to allow things like stews and chili, to simmer. It is so easy to use even my husband and my teenage boys have used it with ease.
Another benefit of this product is that it also serves as a serving dish for some foods. Casseroles, stew, and chili can be set to the lowest setting to simmer and my family can eat when they are ready. Since we have a busy lifestyle, we sometimes eat at different times. I can make supper in the skillet, put the lid on it, set it to warm, and it's warm when we're ready to eat. When we're finished eating, I put the lid on it, set it in the refrigerator and it's ready to be reheated the next day.
One of my favorite benefits of the White Westinghouse Electric Skillet is how easy it is to clean. It is dishwasher safe, however I do not have an automatic dishwasher, so it has to be washed by hand. It is completely submersible. It also has a non-stick surface, so cleaning it is fast and easy. And since everything has been prepared in one pan, there's less clean up afterward. Which pleases my youngest son since he is the one who washes dishes.
I also love the fact that the White Westinghouse Electric Skillet comes in a variety of sizes, to fit any family size. The cost is affordable, usually starting at about $25. It pays for itself with its diversity. It is also long lasting. With proper care, it can last for several years. In fact, the first one I ever had lasted for nearly 14 years. When it came time for a new one, I upgraded and got a bigger one.
If there was one thing I could change about the White Westinghouse Electric Skillet, it would be to include a divider. That way, more than one thing could be cooked at the same time. For example, with a divider, I could make pancakes on one side, and bacon and eggs on the other side. It would be a huge time saver and everything warm.
I constantly recommend the White Westinghouse Electric Skillet to my friends. It is affordable, easy to use, and a huge time saver in meal preparation. It is a must have for any busy family.
