Why Many Businesses Fail Within the First 6 Months

A lot of business would start out with great hopes only to fold up before the end of their 6th month of operations. According to studies, a lot start business never really reached the 6th month of their operations because of lack of capital, lack of proper systems and lack of staying power on the part of the entrepreneur.

Usually, small businesses start on a shoestring budget. Money is hard to come by especially when an entrepreneur is just starting up. Financial institutions would not really lend money much money to a start up entrepreneur because since he or she still do not have the track record to back his or her business assumptions. Since financial institutions would not back up start small businesses, more often than not, entrepreneurs will just have to operate using whatever personal savings they have and whatever money they are able to borrow form family and friends. When the initial funds of the business run out, it will be nearly impossible for the entrepreneur to generate more fund to keep his or her business going that he or she will now be forced to stop the business operations.

The 6th month is the deciding point as to whether or not the entrepreneur would go ahead brave the odds of fold up. According to experts, the 6th month is very crucial when it comes to making decisions because by this time, the entrepreneur will now be able to establish a kind trend in terns of the sales of his or her good and services. Six months is usually the benchmark when it comes to determining whether there is any improvements in terms of sales especially if the entrepreneur have limited capital. By the end of the six months period, more entrepreneurs who are operating on shoestring budgets would find it so difficult to go.

On the other hand, during the first six months of business operations, the entrepreneur is expected to set up a lot of systems to get his or her business up and running. Note that when you are engaged in a business, you just don't produce things or offers services, you also need to create a system so that your business will run smoothly. In the event where the entrepreneur would fail to set up everything during the first 6 months, he or she will now have problems in terms of business operations. In some instances, the entrepreneur would be overwhelmed with backlogs in paper works that he or she would decide to save him/herself from all the troubles by closing the business.
