Why Millions of People Get Involved in Soap Opera Drama

Soap Operas. Millions of us watch them every day. Can't get enough of them, let alone miss an episode. There are so many of them today. I can't even begin to name them all for you, if I tried. When I was much younger, I did watch a few of them. I got bored with them too easily after a week of watching them. As well I was too busy with school, work, family and my friends to be glued to that television every day.

Some of the Soap Operas today are intense than what I recalled back years ago. Most of my friends today live every day without missing an episode of their favorite Soap Operas. My friends don't have just one Soap show, they have several from what they informed me. Too many Soaps in todays society can make one go crazy enough. I don't honestly see a point in watching Soap Operas all day. To me, it's nothing but drama itself. It's an escape from reality world for awhile.

When I had watched a Soap Opera for that week, it was quite boring, honestly. It wasn't intriguing, it was dragged out, like drama itself. Addicting? No way for me. After watching only that for a week, I couldn't take it. Some of my friends and family members who are in love with these television shows have watched them for as long as I have lived. To sit there and watch for hours on end all day with a Television Soap Opera just amazes me. It puzzles me even more that people are still amazed by it after years of enduring the drama and sitting hours on end watching it, yet they keep coming back every day to watch it again.

Soap operas these days are not what I expected in todays society. Truly it's an extreme drama beyond reality. I see it's about power, lust, sex, murder, money, and so on. What a story to tell during the day, for millions of us to sit there and fantasize about. Yet millions of us do each day, sit and watch their favorite Soap Opera without missing an episode. It amazes me how some of us value a non-reality story compared to our own lives these days. Why would some of us want that kind of life to begin with? I sure don't want Mr. X coming to my house and planning my murder. Even worse, I don't want to know my next door neighbor is screwing the guy who cleans the pool every week, or mowing the grass either.

Most of the people I have talked to whom watch Soap Operas today, have told me they have either been watching Soap Operas before my time, to several years now. They're all hooked though, as I was informed. Others have told me it's the feeling of a "fantasy", an escape from reality. Fantasy? Are they kidding me? They want that kind of life? I sure wouldn't want that kind of fantasy life in my world. Yet millions of viewers tune in every day to watch these shows. It baffles my mind completely to comprehend what ticks into these minds of the viewers of why. When I was a teen and had watched a Soap Opera for a short time, I didn't understand it all. Drama, and I knew it wasn't real to begin with. In fact, I found that more women today watch Soap Opera television shows than men do. I mean come on now, how many men you know watch Soap Operas? I sure don't know one.

I had tried to understand the concept and the whole value of sitting at the television for hours on end with these drama shows. I have to say, I sure couldn't do it back then, and I refuse to try again. If any of the people I talked to had to miss an episode of their favorite Soap Show, they would find a way to record it, or ask a neighbor or friend who watched it as well. We all have ou favorite television shows, as I do myself. We all do. Except I'll pass on watching Soap Opera's any given day. If I wanted something drama in my life going on, it usually finds me once in a great while. We all go through it in our life.

Soap operas on television is just too much for me to handle, period. The drama itself, it too thick of a plot for some of us other millions of viewers. I rather sit here and listen to my music any given day, or watch a horror movie. That kind of escape from reality isn't my cup of tea, folks. For alot of us, we'll find something else to do than sit there and watch Soap Operas. To those who find it still to this day, fascinating, more power to you. That kind of escape for me, isn't it. I'll pass on watching Mr. X trying to plot his wife's murder for her money today, thank you.
