I have five theories about this. Mini-van drivers tend to be mothers who are stressed. They work a job and take care of a house and kids. They are always rushing somewhere and they are never on time, due to their busy schedule. Thus they rush home to pick up the kids for soccer practice, and they are feeling guilty that everyone is working late and they had to leave early. When they pick up the kids, they now have to rush across town in under ten minutes to get their kids to soccer practice, baseball, art lessons, music lessons - pick your poison.
But theory number one became suspect, when ,my friend pointed out that parents in big SUVs - Tahoes, Suburbans - must have the same time challenges, but they are not aggressive drivers like mini-van drivers.
Onto theory number two. People who tend to drive big SUVs which cost at least ten thousand more than a mini-van, may be upper income. So the lady driving the kids across town in the the SUV does not have the same challenges the mini-van driver has. She has a rich husband, so she can stay at home and not work, She has a cleaning lady, who also prepares dinner. Thus people who drive mini-vans are under more stress than those who drive SUVs.
Thirrd theory. Maybe the person driving the mini-van is just always pissed off because life did not turn out as she expected. Her friend Susie is in New York, working for a major fashion magazine and going out for cocktails every night. Her friend, Pam, married a doctor and doesn't have to work.. And the mini-van driver is thinking - "Wait, this was not my life's dream, to marry some deadbeat, work to support my famiily, drive these brats across town, and then go home and cook dinner and clean house." Heck , I would be always pissed off too.
Fourth theory. And this is from the father's viewpoint. All your hip driends drive BMWs and all you can afford is a used mini-van, with comes complete with screaming kids. So you drive as fast as you can because you want to dump the screaming kids off and you drive fast so no one will see you driving a minivan.
Okay, the fifth and final theory. Maybe mini-van drivers are just jerks.

Post a CommentMini Van drivers are aggressive because they spent all their money on a minivan that's the size of a regular van and the kids still are asking ARE WE THERE YET?
Very funny!
All of the above, though there are no excuses! Great read!
Excellent! I knew they were just jerks.
Hilarious! Thankfully, we do not own a mini van! cheers :)
YOu've got some good points there!!!!!!
Very funny. I steer clear of van drivers and definitely will from now on because of your article.
I think the third theory is very true. Lots of pissed off women out there. And, I am saying this as a woman, they rarely give people a break on the road. They will speed up in a lane just so another driver can't cut in, and they block people from exiting parking lots, gas stations, etc. Very funny!
