Why Do I Miss You? a Poem for Alan Hall

Etienne J. Sarfelli
Why do I miss you?

You left; you disappeared;

You apparently don't want to be found,

But my heart yearns for you.

I long to hear that voice of yours,

And how it soothed me when I was sad.

I want to spend my days

Talking to you as though

I have nothing else in the world to do

Just as we used to do before.

I want to finally have the chance

To hold your hand and be with you

The way you promised me I could

If only I could be patient

It seems as though there

Was much more to the story

than you ever let on

Secrets that you kept from me

That still keep me from you

So why should I care?

Why do I miss you?

I don't know why

I just do.
