With the way people are jacking up their ability to protect their privacy, but now there's an increase in usage when it comes to money orders. People are using them even more now since banks charge a hefty price if a personal check bounces for insufficient funds. Money orders were the acceptable forms of payment for items because sending cash in the mail would result in theft that couldn't be reported. With so many people who don't have bank accounts are resorting to this kind of means to pay bills without the use of a checking account. There are five reasons for why you should use a money order when paying bills or buying things through the mail:

Protection of privacy-Most people don't want to use personal checks because it has your real home address and sometimes a phone number because many places of business won't accept a personal check without a telephone number. Not to mention you don't have to worry about someone knowing where you live if you're paying bills you can use any address or even a PO Box address.

No fees for insufficient funds-Money orders are paid in full so there are no fees for bouncing checks and you don't have to deal with fees for paying by check since some businesses will charge a fee if payment is made by a personal check.

Faster payment time-Money orders are processed faster than a personal check because they don't have to wait the typical 5-10 working days for the check to clear through the bank before payment is officially made to the merchant.

Longer keep time-Money orders are good for up to one year un-cashed so if you don't have an expense you need to pay right away you can hold on to the money order for up to a year. Money orders are good one year from the time of them being issued to be used.

You can make purchases outside the country-Some purchases from businesses outside the United States want payment in US dollars and paying with an international money order will ensure the merchant will be paid in the currency requested. There are good majority of people who don't have bank accounts for various reasons, but they're using money orders to pay their bills and buy things through the mail. Using money orders saves you time from waiting on a personal check to clear the bank and money in fees from insufficient funds from a bounced check. Paying by money order is a fast and convenient way to buy things without having to waste time and money in unnecessary fees for a check to clear.

Money orders are cheap to get depending on where you get them from. You can get them from the currency exchange for no more than .60 or a dollar and some change from your bank and depending on your bank the fees apply for a money order and in some cases money orders are free if you have an account with a specific bank or financial institution.Money orders are best used for when you don't want businesses or even the bill collectors to know where you live. This is a cheap and inexpensive way to protect your privacy because current methods to protect your privacy and identity is costly and many can't afford the monthly fees that come with that.

Yet this is a lot more secure than a personal check because it's not attached to a bank account like checks are since the tracking and account numbers are listed at the bottom of a check. The only number you get with a money order is a tracking number which you can use to revoke the money order if it's lost or stolen. In this day and age you are having to use money orders because personal checks get stolen and altered if someone's fraudulently trying to cash them to get money for them. Using a money order is a good choice if you want to protect your privacy and to keep businesses from knowing where you live so you're not inundated with junk mail and stuff you didn't request.

Money orders are a great way to avoid leaving a paper trail because if you use a personal check that can be traced and linked to someone's bank account. Most people don't want their personal information lingering around so they use money orders to keep a lot of the personal information such as a phone number or home address from being seen. Doing this is an inexpensive way to protect your personal information and to maintain your privacy.
