Why Have More Than One Email Account

Pat Bartels
What happens when you run out of those accounts that your internet provider gives you or why would you need more than one account? Don't worry there are plenty of places where you can get email accounts.

The accounts that come with your internet provider would best be used for your personal email from your friends and to give to trusted companies that you do business with or pay bills to. Set up a separate email account for your work or business. You might ask, why shouldn't I just want to use one account for all of my email? The answer would be to prevent your email from being spammed and to have better control.

You don't need to pay for more email accounts. There are a lot of free accounts you can sign up for such as AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, hotmail, etc. These are all trusted companies. You might want to use one of these accounts if you sign up for free trials or free offers. That way you can protect your main email account from receiving unsolicited offers.

There are spam blockers that you can use on your email account, but these don't prevent the spam they only shuttle it off to another folder in your email. Plus, unless you are vigilant, email from legitimate sources can end up in your spam mail.

Businesses are an example of why to have more than one email address. Each individual in the business will have their own address; a contact email address is set up for general questions or as a way to get directed to the appropriate department. They will have email addresses for support questions and the list goes on and on.

As you can see, it's a good idea to have more than one account. Be sure to keep track of the accounts you have and put your passwords somewhere in a safe place. There's nothing as aggravating as setting up an account and then forgetting the password.
