Celebrate what? Back to my original statement about just calling this time of year the holiday season, not the Christmas season.
Indeed, there is a lot going on this time of year. Other major religions have their holidays and celebrations. Indeed, Christmas is considered a Christian holiday. It's the time when Christians commemorate the birth of a babe in Bethlehem. His parents named him Jesus Christ. Christ was the savior destined to die for the sins of the people.
Because of the debate over whether people should make no mention of Christmas this time of year, many Christians are faced with a decision: should we go with the flow and be politically correct? Or should we adhere to our convictions that Christ is still the reason for the season, no matter what anyone else may say, think or do?
Should we wish family and friends a "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays?"
Should we buy and send a greeting card with a baby laden manger on the cover, or should we give the one showcasing a beautiful Christmas - excuse me - holiday tree?
Should we put up the manger scene in the front yard, or use Santa and his reindeer this time?
I had to decide for myself how I was going to deal with whether or not to use Christmas and other such terms when I wrote a story about Christmas holiday happenings in Pike County, Alabama. There was pause for about one minute. Should I change the wording "Christmas Parade" to "Holiday Parade" so I wouldn't offend readers and other writers on Associated Content? Perhaps the article would get more page views if I were politically correct just this once.
I became angry with myself for considering the thought just for a minute. People in all religions have died for what they believe. And I'm willing to hide what I believe for some page views?
I don't think so.

I really liked your article. I feel the same way. Let others celebrate their holiday however they wish, but December 25th is Christmas in my family. The first time I read an article on praize years ago was when my girlfriend who introduced me to it wrote on whether or not to celebrate Christmas anymore because of some research she had done. I let her have it with both guns and told her how much it meant to me and should mean to her to have the privilege of celebrating. I think she was as surprised as I was and stepped back from what she had decided. Thank goodness we were such good friends and have stayed close through the years. She is more like a sister really, but nevertheless, we have enjoyed sharing this holiday more than once and it needs to stay what it is meant to be, a celebration of the birth of our King Jesus.
