Why Nadya Suleman Calling Jon Gosselin "Hot" is One of the Greatest News Stories of 2009

Fox News is reporting that Octomom Nadya Suleman stated that she has a crush on Jon Gosselin, and believes that Jon Gosselin is "hot." While some readers might laugh at this and just believe that this is another attempt by Nadya Suleman to get some publicity, I stand up and applaud. As someone who has written about news stories online for over three years, I believe that this should be nominated as one of the top news stories of 2009.

When one looks over the tip news stories of 2009, one will cone to a quick realizations that this has been a fairly depressing year. While 2009 started out with a bang with the fact that the first African-American took the Presidential Oath, this milestone in American history was quickly overshadowed by what President Barack Obama had to face.

Stories about Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin, and Nadya Suleman served as a means to escape from the realm of top news stories in 2009 like the economy, the H1N1 Virus (or Swine Flu), the Ware in Iraq, the War in Afghanistan, and the mounting unemployment rate in America. These three individuals gave us a momentary distraction from the evils that faced our lives.

Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin, and Nadya Suleman in their owned strained way helped us to forget about the issues with health care in America. They made us realize that we could stop worrying about the automotive and financial bailouts that brilliant minds were milling over. They gave us a breath of fresh air from the top news stories of 2009.

When we were struck off-guard by a rash of celebrity deaths in late June and early July of 2009, Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin, and Nadya Suleman were asked about their feelings on these deaths, and how they were effected by them. There are sound bytes floating around on the Internet about their comments on the deaths of Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, David Carradine, and Billy Mayes.

Nadya Suleman's comments about Jon Gosselin makes us able to connect the two distractions (the Gosselins and the Octomom). They are able to briefly make these two distractions one. Will anything more come of this? Who knows. What we do know, though, is if it were not for the distractions that these three gave us, we might be even more stressed out than we are as a Nation right now.

It is a well-known fact that humans are prone to escapism when times get tough. When life gets us down, millions of us turn on the TV or jump on the Internet to see what kind of dysfunctional behavior we can watch to take us away from our current lives. Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin, and Nadya Suleman have been there all year for us.

I am sure that if a poll were taken in the United States, there are more people that could tell you about the inner workings of the lives of Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin, and Nadya Suleman faster than they could about the famous family that lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. While these three have become infamous for their dysfunctional lives, they have helped make our lives a little more functional.
