Why You Should Never Live Next to Your In-Laws

It started out as we wanted our son who was only 9 months old to get to know his grandparents. I missed my mom also and she lived a few miles away from my in-laws. We had a place to move that was paid for even though it was in my in-laws name we had lived there before. I had forgotten about what a Looney bird my mother in law was. Until we fell for trick number one. It was that we were told our home had been completely remodeled and all we needed was a septic system and not to worry they would pay for it.

Wow, what a mistake you see when we got there our house was torn down to bare walls and we had to live with her until the home was done being fixed. Knowing we had a son I don't know why she failed to mention it was not by any means livable.

The lies and mind games.

One thing you learn after being married for over 6 years now is it's never simple living with your in-laws much less beside them.

So the lies had begun and they just kept piling on. My husband ended up having to remodel the home his-self and we ended up having to pay a monthly payment on the septic system that they paid for. Yes they did pay for the septic but they wanted us to pay them back for it. Despite the fact that we had to pay $10,000 out of our own pocket to finish remodeling; now mind you that my husband has not found a new job to replace the old one he left. Then when the money ran dry and I had to apply for food stamps they wanted my husband to apply for jobs and document it to turn in. His mother, my mother in-law, told him that since her husband had a business he wanted to start she would put him on the pay roll so we could keep our food stamps. Did she do this, no she didn't but kept promising him that they would get a customer no matter what so he could make money. Needless to say we lost our food stamps and the lies continued.

You sometimes wonder if things could ever get any worse and then they do.

Well let's just say me and my mother in-law got into it and exchanged words and then I got a little physical after she grabbed my shirt and threatened to take my son. Of course what loving mother wouldn't lose their mind and flip out on their in-laws after they had already been through so much.

Now this is the excuse for all of the lies and bull that she put us through. She meaning my mother in-law said all of this was because I didn't cook or clean and she didn't think I was good enough for her son. After 6 years of being married to him she told my husband to divorce me or we wouldn't have a place to live and no car because it was all in her name. Now remember this story when you or your loved one wants to live with or close to their mom or dad. There are things that got even worse for us that I left our due to more the aggravation I am feeling just thinking about it.

There is always a happy ending in most stories so here is mine.

My husband left and went to get his old job back in the small town we left and got us a place to move into. I stayed behind to pack and take care of some of the bills and to try to get some dental work done. Although the dental work never happened because of financial reasons. We are now scheduled to move the day after Christmas and this has inspired me even more to be myself and not to please in-laws ever again; so now I am opening my own Wicca practicing church in the small town we are moving to. wiccanchurch.webs.com/
