Why the Nintendo Wii Can Be the More Popular Future Gaming Console

Jason Freeden
With the Nintendo Wii selling over 6.66 million dollars worth of consoles, it has already reached it's goal of selling what it wanted to sell, now they are having problems making enough to keep the sales going. Now I am sure that Nintendo figured that people would be very interested in this new piece of technology, after all it uses a totally new and innovative way of playing your video games, but in no way, shape, or form did Nintendo think that they would be this successful. The XBox 360, which has a lot of their sales coming from the USA has sold about 9.66 million dollars worth of units worldwide, but it has also been out a bit longer than the Nintendo Wii. The Playstation 3 is in dead last with only 2.67 million dollars worth of consoles being sold, sources state that Sony won't be threatening anytime soon.

It certainly is about time that Nintendo had gained a huge lead over rival Sony, but the lead that has taken place is record breaking. Seeing how the pace is going, if Nintendo can keep the product line of Nintendo Wii's going of course, they could surpass the XBox 360 is sales, which would be absolutely amazing. If you count current sales now and even months before, the Nintendo Wii has been the number one console in the world. With games such as Wii Sports, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Play, and Super Paper Mario, the system just keeps gaining more sales. The game list is increasing ever so slowly, but it will just gain more speed as more people continue to purchase the console.

Now, getting back to my argument to why the Nintendo Wii will still be the most popular console years and years down the road. Seeing that there isn't much more you can possible do to create a more unique way of playing your video games, and any possible try would be an exact replica or carbon copy of what Nintendo has already done, I feel that this innovative technology will remain popular down the road. I love the fact that I can say that I have a Nintendo Wii and that I play it all the time. I love the sounds that come out of my television speakers and Nintendo continues to make the games that I love.

Do I wish there was more internet compatibility? Sure I do, but that is set to become more relevant down the road, so I am in absolutely no worry. Nintendo did state that they were having problems keeping up with sales in and around the world, but this will probably be settled right away. I can only imagine what the total console sales will be in six months from now. Oh boy am I psyched!

Its not a whole lot of moving around Ryan, for a horrible game player like myself the Wii is perfect. I am the type that falls of the bed with the controller trying to get the little men to jump the way I want them too, lol! I got to play on a Wii for the first time this past week and am determined to buy my own..the first system I will have ever owned.

I have never played the Wii. I would think it would be fun with a bunch of friends, but I think just by myself I'd prefer a PS3/Xox 360 rather than all that moving around.
