The good people of the United States say that they have nothing against the Muslims living in the United States contributing and following the laws of the United States, so what is the problem with the mosque. Are we some how saying that these Americans do not have the same right to purchase land and build their place to worship in accordance with the law?
If it had been a Christian would you good people stop any new churches from being built down there, or if Jewish people did it would you have stopped the building of synagogues in the area? I guess I just do not get the point. You say that you do not blame all Muslims for 9/11, but you seek to make all Muslims guilty of 9/11. You have Muslims in your government, police department, teaching in your schools going to your schools. They are your doctors, dentists and your neighbors and you would insult them by making them part of 9/11. They serve in the arm forces to help protect the American way of life and you would keep them from prayer. Please enlighten me as to why they do not have the right to build a place of worship in this place.
They pay taxes just like you. This was an attack on America and all Americans; not just the Christians. The people who died in the attack as well as those who tried to help during and after the attack were not all Christians, or Muslims, or Jews; they were Americans as well as visitors to your country. Are you trying to say that Muslims are not American enough to have a place of worship near ground zero? Should all Muslims be barred from living, working and going to school around ground zero? I mean if having a Mosque is such a horrific reminder, the people themselves must be even worse.
I think the thought of treating these American Muslims in this manner solely because some one in their religion killed a lot of people is wrong and senseless and does nothing to honor the people who died there that day, but is more along the mind set of the people who committed this horrific act against so many unsuspecting innocent people. Please enlighten me though as to why these American citizens do not have the right to build their house of worship near ground zero.
What act of prejudice, bigotry and denial of basic rights will be deemed necessary next to honor the dead Americans of 9/11. Maybe you should just pass a law forbidding the practicing of the Muslim religion, Perhaps you should outlaw the assembly of more than say four Muslims at any given time. Try to remember this though if you can, Americans are made up of many different nationalities, practice many different religions, have different skin colors and speak many different languages and all of us are supposed to be equal in all things pertaining to all of the above. Taking all of this into consideration please enlighten me as to why these American citizens, who are guilty of nothing do not have the right to build their place of worship near ground zero.
Or is it that only a certain type of people, who are of a certain race and color, practicing certain religions that are seen, recognized and accepted by some people in America as, real Americans? There are issues about whether the president is a Muslim or not, but I thought all you had to be was born in the United States to become president and your religion was not supposed to count. Please tell me why his religion would make such a difference, unless some how the rest of America does not consider practicing Muslims, Americans. Please enlighten me so I can stop thinking that stereotypical bigotry and the persecution and denial of yet another group of people's basic rights is about to happen all over again; using the tragedy caused by the actions of 9/11 by unscrupulous bigots to gain political ground, by using the still grieving loved ones of 9/11. I agree with Nancy Pelosi that these people who would use the memories and feelings of loss of the victim's families for the purpose of strengthening their own agendas should be investigated and brought to justice.
