If you are an expectant mother or are currently a mother then you have probably thought of buying a baby sling if you have not done so already. Well if you happen to be in the market for a baby sling there is one that I have found to be not worth the money, and possibly a safety risk for your child. This article will give you ten reasons why you should not buy the sling rider.
1. It is very uncomfortable for the parent. The whole purpose of the baby sling is to make it easier and more comfortable for you the parent to carry your baby. This sling however happens to be very uncomfortable to me, and several of my friends who have used this product. It ended up making my shoulders hurt, and I could never really find a comfortable position.
2. It is too uncomfortable for the baby. Not only is is uncomfortable for the mom but for the baby it seems to be almost impossible for them to get comfortable. No matter which way you turn them they just can not seem to find the right position that will comfort them.
3. Too expensive. This sling costs about thirty dollars and really does not have much too it. For that price I think that it would be better off for any parent to get a baby carrier that is comfortable and offers a little bit more.
4. Difficult to nurse in. This particular sling is supposed to make it easier for any mom to nurse, but I have found that it is not easy at all. It actually makes it very awkward to try and find a comfortable position for your baby to nurse, and because of that you can not be very discreet.
5. Not made for big babies. Even though it is supposed to be able to hold a baby up to twenty pounds, many women who I spoke to about this product say that their baby's were too big to fit comfortably. Since most babies are born pretty heavy nowadays this is not a very practical product for many moms.
6. Difficult to walk with. One thing that many moms love about baby slings is that they make it easier for you to walk around and get your everyday errands done. But with this sling it is difficult to move without your child fussing because they are just so uncomfortable.
7. You can not use it past the first four months. The really bad thing is that you get very limited use out of this product. If it actually lasted until your child reached twenty pounds which would be close to a year old then it would be well worth the money that is spent. This particular product however, seems to be more like a waste of money. If you actually are able to use it, it probably will not be for very long.
8. Not enough pocket space to hold small items like a wallet. Most baby slings have little pouches or pockets that you can use to hold your wallet or other small items, like keys. This particular item does not. It does have a pocket but it really is not big enough or even secure to hold anything.
9. Dads can not use it. Most dads like to use a baby sling or carrier occasionally to give mom a break. This one is definitely not made for dads. Although I do not think that this particular carrier was supposed to be for dads, it is always better for everyone in the family to be able to use the sling. Most other slings are able to be used by both parents.
10. Does not work for plus size moms. When the manufacturer was making this sling, they obviously did not take into consideration the fact that moms are still carrying their baby weight. For most normal moms it will take a while for them to lose the weight. So if you still have the baby belly this sling does not sit comfortably on your body.
These are the reasons that I found, as to why you should not buy the baby sling. If you still can not make up your mind you can go to the store and try it on and see how it feels. To get the feel of how it will be with a baby inside try using your purse to give it some weight. Either way the final decision is up to you and your husband, just make sure that you think things through carefully.

Post a CommentThe number one reason not to use this sling -- or any other in this style -- can be found if you search for "baby sling safety" and click on the one that is titled "Baby carriers - correct positioning and safety". This style of sling basically forces an infant into a position that cuts off their airway, not to mention the confined space limits their oxygen the way being trapped up against a crib bumper does. Please reconsider using this kind of sling if you have one.
My Husband and I Loved this sling! WE had twins so had two slings, we found it so easy to get around with a sling each... and with twins you get stopped every 5 secs so we loved how your baby is hidden away! AS for uncomfortable for bubby... they look uncomfortable, but the sling is designed to feel like the womb... your baby was tucked up in all sorts of positions!
I was big after I had the twins and I found it so comfortable! Mine is the new version, the padded shoulder strap is a great relief! and as for not enough space, what do you need to take with you! I found it fine, just meant I couldn't take my kitchen skin! lol
PLus if you look into the sling it has a harness inside which is the safest sling on the market!
My friend used this sling till her bub was 10mths!
Yes it was recalled and then a new version was released!!!
I recommend this sling to everyone and anyone!!!!
I personally hated this sling. It was okay for one use -- but then she was awake and wanted to see the world; and she couldn't. Now she's 7 months old and barely 16lbs and WAAAYYY too big for it. It cranes her neck uncomfortably and sure, she's with me, but she'd be much more comfortable if I just held her. Plus now that she reaches for everything in sight, she's fully capable of tipping herself out -- meaning I have to have a hand on her anyway -- which means I'm still armless.
My daughter bought one of the Infantino Sling Riders this year for her baby. It worked perfect. He had a tad of the colic and when you put him in this sling and took 2 steps he was out like a light. Her husband is 6'2" and he used it also as did I(55 year old grandma that doesn't walk as fast as I used to.) I would recommend this product from my experience. buy the NEW VERSION.
I am a plus size mom myself, size 24 if you need to know, and this sling is actually one of the few that i felt absolutely comfortable with and the little one falls asleep in it every time i put him in. It is the only way for me to really move around in the house freely with the little angle just hanging on my side, being comfortable. My husband as well as a befriended couple of ours have no problem at all in using the sling, too. So I think you should just not take your personal experience with baby items as the absolute opinion and

I love this pouch...and just an FYI...the slings labeled "2007 design" or "made in Thailand" are NOT included in the recall....
My husband, who is 6' tall, used this perfectly. As so did I. We took it to the mall and moved around as other people with strollers looked on enviously. Note, the old sling was recalled--there is a new sling that corrects the problem and the item has no further problems since then that I have heard of. I actually had the one prior to the recall and infantino exchanged it voluntarily for me. My daughter loved this so much we sometimes had to put her in it in order to get her to go to sleep. Everyone is different but we loved it.
The sling is excellent! I found that it was very comfortable and my baby was extremely comfortable in it. Granted, they do outgrow the sling fast but for those first months it's fatastic. And men can wear it--my husband proudly wore our daughter in the sling. Although there as been a recall you simply have to contact the company and they will replace it with the newer model.
I have a 2 and a half month old baby boy. He's my first and as part of a safety class I learned that the sling is the best for a baby. I got this sling from my registry and I wish I never put it on. It was good for 3 uses. Then my baby isnt happy with it anymore, hes lost inside when now he wants to see the world. This sling is very limited he lies inside and thats it,Ive been searching other slings and found there are so many different kinds with a lot of different ways to wear your baby. I wish I researched it before. The art of babywearing is really something to look into.
