Why You Should NOT Miss "The Good Wife"!

There have been lots of reviews of "The Good Wife" since its first episode last year. Every one of them saying "The Good Wife" is one of the best dramas around. "The Good Wife", starring award-winning Julianna Magulies, (Alicia Florick) as the wronged 'good wife' of a corrupt, philandering former district attorney of Chicago, Peter Florick (Chris Noth). Some are calling this superior portrayal a legal drama, and some are viewing it as a crime drama.

But, "The Good Wife" is neither.

"The Good Wife" is a political thriller. The layers of drama, suspense, political Chicago in-fighting, media expose's, crime stories, legal defenses and prosecutorial attacks interlaced with novel investigative methods make "The Good Wife" much more than a legal or crime drama. The casting is superb beyond the central casting of Margulies and Noth, with Josh Charles as Will Gardner and Christine Baranski as Diane Lockhart, senior partners of Lockhart and Gardner and Bond, Alicia Florick's new employers.

What, however, is the central reason you should not miss the "The Good Wife"? You know, besides the excellent writing, the superior casting, and the ever- unanticipated plot curves and rushes?

The answer to that is- well, it's all about Kalinda!

Archie Panjabi (Bend like Beckham) as Kalinda is a never-ending, unpredictable, out of the blue, sly investigator for the law firm of Lockhart and Gardner and Bond. If she is not making a deal with Glenn Childs ( Alicia's nemesis ) to work as a double agent, or sharing an intimate kiss with persons' of either gender, she might just be found taking a baseball bat to the windows of her competitors' car- and leaving a kiss on the rear-view mirror as a sweet goodbye!

Kalinda brings the element of overwhelming surprise to each episode. I am not saying that the paramount storyline which sails above all the other dramas on network television right now is not superlative. What I am doing is taking a big red pencil and marking the points in each episode where I am startled out of the story by a 'Kalinda' moment. Cameras zoom to Kalinda spying on her competitor and then getting one step ahead of him every time.

Now, take three- Kalinda bringing just the right piece of evidence to the courtroom in just the nick of time, obtained in her signature, unorthodox manner. Kalinda moments are out of the box, unforeseen, and just pure, splashy fun!

Why shouldn't you miss "The Good Wife"? Because you might miss a Kalinda moment, in just a blink of an eye!
