Why the NY Giants Will Defy the Odds Once Again to Win the Super Bowl

As I saw the pregame show on FOX in which one analyst after another picked the Green Bay Packers to beat the Giants in the NFC championship game, I smiled knowing that I could do a better job than these analysts. 3 out of 4 of the FOX so called sports analysts picked the Packers to win. In the first round of the NFC playoffs, all 4 of these same sports analysts picked the Tempa Bay Buccaneers to beat the Giants. In the NFC divisional games, all 4 of these same analysts picked against the Giants yet again to lose to the Dallas Cowboys. Now, the so called sports analysts on FOX picked against the Giants to beat the Packers. How wrong they all were and now it is the Giants who have the last laugh as they are going to the Super Bowl to face the undefeated New England Patriots. Once again the sports analysts are picking against the Giants as the Patriots are a 13 point favorite to beat the Giants in Arizona. My friends, as a life long Giants fan I am warning you not to pick against the Giants and more importantly, to pick the Giants to at least cover the 14.5 point spread. Here's why.

In week 17, the NY Giants had absolutely nothing to play for. Nothing. The New England Patriots had everything to play for in the Meadowlands with history on the line and the opportunity to be only the second team to go undefeated in NFL history. Despite the game being at home and the Giants having wrapped up a bid for the playoffs, Giants coach made the boldest move of his coaching career in playing all of his starters the entire game and competing to win the game and deny the Patriots their bid at history. The Giants played great football and were ahead for most of the game. At one point in the game the Giants were winning 28-16 in the third quarter. However, Tom Brady would lead the Patriots down the field to win the game on a game winning drive. The final score was 38-35 New England.

Now the Giants have the Vince Lombardi trophy to play for and have a second crack at the Patriots. The Giants are a better team since they played the Patriots at home. The game will be played on the road for the Giants in Arizona and the Giants have showed that they are a better road team than they are at home, winning 10 games on the road during this season to make NFL history. The Giants have gone on the road to beat the Buccaneers, Cowboys and Packers. The Giants are game tested and ready to go toe to toe with the Patriots. Furthermore, in week 17, the Giants showed that they are every bit as good as the Patriots and are not afraid of them.

Eli Manning is played his best: Eli Manning has looked a lot like his brother Peyton Manning who beat the Patriots in the playoffs last year in the AFC to win the Super Bowl. Eli Manning has not committed a single turnover during the playoffs and he had 254 yards passing against the tough Packers secondary which has two of the best cornerbacks in the league in Al Harris and Charles Woodson. Eli Manning has created a great chemistry with his top wide receiver Plaxico Burress who is one of the best wide receivers in the league.

The Giants have the BIG MO: The Patriots have been undefeated the entire season but it is really the Giants who have all the momentum. They have defied all of the sports analysts to win on the road and make it to the Super Bowl when no one said they had a chance. The Giants have a high level of confidence now and they know they can beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl because they almost beat them in week 17 with history on the line.

Remembering History: The Giants were last in the Super Bowl in the year 2000 and lost badly to the Baltimore Ravens. The only returning members from that Giants team to the 2008 team are Michael Straham and Amani Toomer. With the careers of these two players coming to a end in the near future, these two players will rally their team to victory. The Patriots have won Super Bowls in the past but the Giants will be hungrier for victory. They are simply a team that will not be denied.

The Giants could actually use the "no respect" card even more than the Patriots in the next two weeks.....now that's scary.
