In this day and age of the computer and the technologically advanced education system the choices are unlimited when it comes to going to college. So long are the days of having to attend your community college, or any college for that matter, to study your career path. You can do it in the comfort of your own home.

Now granted, there are many benefits as well as disadvantages to attending college online. This article will look at several pros and cons.

One such con would be attending a college online means you will lose the opportunity to enjoy the college life in a dorm or apartment, away from home. If you are fresh out of High School online college may not be right for you. New friends, being on your own and dorm life are all part of the college experience. With online college you lose those benefits of learning.

Of course when you are older attending a college online would be more beneficial. Even more so when you have kids who would need childcare arranged for them. Also when you are older you may not have the time it will take to drive back and forth to a college. Another reason online schooling could be right for you is if you are going back to college after a long absence. Perhaps you are much older than you feel your classmates would be and want to avoid that.

Attending college online is very convenient. You can do your work and study any time of the day or night. You can even do your work in your pj's! Now that is a plus!

There are a lot of businesses who will compensate or pay for your online education. This is one option you may want to check into. It would definitely be worth looking at.

Attending college online could also be beneficial because each person learns differently. In a classroom you may not feel comfortable speaking up but online you may feel more at ease to do so. There are also chat rooms and online support to help you anytime.

It may seem that online college may only be right for the older generation. I think it just depends on the individual and their circumstances. Attending college in person or in the cyber world have benefits. It is up to you to decide which one will meet your needs best.
